Forums - Nintendo - Prediction: Christmas 2014 will determine if WiiU will perm be in 3rd place by the end of the gen.

So, how many Christmases does the Wii U get?

I kind of agree, though. If Nintendo puts EVERYTHING into the Kart/Smash bag and spends like a bazillion dollars on advertising, they might be able to pull off a nice holiday season. Of course, it might not actually be worth the investment. Part of me thinks that Nintendo is going to spend as little money as possible on the Wii U.

I don't think so. Nintendo is planing until today to rest Wii U fate only on MK8 and SSB, and, as much as you love SSB it won't do anything substancial. They'll need something like a new Wii Sports.

Anything can happen if people dont dick ride the media bashing nintendo trend and use there own brains it will do fine but everyone gets brain washed

No, it's already been determined.

Smash & MK were also on GC too; they won't change the direction of the ship enough on their own. After that the Wii U will be disadvantaged the rest of it's meager life missing out on all top 3rd party.

I think Wii U will always be a good 2nd or 3rd console for dedicated gamers, but the masses will continue to overlook it.

I wonder who's going to make this thread next year.

I'm guessing Pokoko.

Not much of a prediction really. With the average console lifespan being about 5 years, it's pretty clear that if Nintendo can't turn things around by 2.5 years, things are going to be pretty bleak.

Wii was 6 years iirc and yeah i do agreee with you, it probably wont turn around. i just hope it will.

Wii came out November 2005 I believe... And the Wii U came out 2012.  So, that was 6 years technically.

I guess you mean 2006?  Otherwise technically 12 - 5 is in fact 7.

The excite factor of the XOne & PS4 is wearing down. Wii U has now won/winning Japan. XOne will drop in numbers sold faster then the PS4. Most held out on the Wii U to see what's to come of the other consoles. They're here and now it's about the games. I am not at all surprise if Nintendo win E3. So much is going on at Sony for them to win. Microsoft, forget it. Lol Mostly all Nintendo games are exclusives and what's going separate the Wii U from the others.

SSB4 and MK8 are two offerings that could create a great deal of momentum for the WiiU ONLY if Nintendo properly capitalizes on said momentum (Price cut). This is the 4th generation of Nintendo home consoles that survived without abundant 3rd party support (even the Wii didn't have sufficiant 3rd party support, just a great deal of shovelware development).

Third place is inevitable. All that remains to be seen is how much of a fight the Wii U puts up on its way there.

Third place. Just remains to be seen if it will be distant, and if third place can still provide me with a fair number of awesome games. That's all I want, considering I own a WiiU and will not be on the market for another system for a good long while.
