Forums - Gaming Discussion - Where did the PC mater race come from?

Basements all across the globe came together to form something greater than the sum of their parts

Around the Network

Steam pretty much brought PC gaming back, and now it's stronger than ever.

I think it came from the Internet.

Damnit, thats exactly what came to mind when i read it.

Just remember that there are plenty of PC gamers that don't think they're any different from console gamers. I mainly enjoy PC gaming because of the ability to mod and for FPS games, but there are several games exclusive to consoles/handhelds that keep me on those platforms as well.

With that said, the whole "master race" thing seems like a fairly recent thing, because I don't remember people talking about it in the past, not even as late as the whole counterstrike era.  It seems much more recent (perhaps just starting in the past generation).  I'm not sure because I think the term is silly and never gave it that much attention.

I, for one, fully accept the PC "mater" race

A long, long time ago, people discoverd how much money you can save with Steam and Emulators. Thus the PC Master Race was born.

A group of people that decided masturbation was better than sex.

The moment that consoles could no longer compete against pc in terms of graphix since according to the pc master race, art direction is not important

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I play what I can on PC, and stuff that is console exclusive I play there.

Basically fun trumps graphics, but if a better version of a game exists, I would much rather play that version instead.

It's the reason PS4's advantages over XB1 matter, as multi-console owners (this will increase dramatically with time) will have precious few reasons to choose XB1 variants of multiplats (controller preference and friends list being the only legitimate ones I can think of, and friends list is and will probably lean even more so towards PS4 as time goes on).
