Forums - Gaming Discussion - Where did the PC mater race come from?

PC master race = fabrication made by console gamers who can't afford a PC and therefore justify why their console is inferior to make themselves feel better.

The term was first started by Zero Punctuation's review of Witcher (see the post above).

But PC gaming has always offered a better graphics experience if you're willing to spend a bit of money. Even back in the PS1/N64 days, a high end-average PC could render and output higher resolutions than either console.

I think PC gamers (including me a long time ago) have been bitching for a long time, but the real switch to the "master race" was the PS360 gen : consoles claiming to be superior to PC at launch, multi-platform games on console and PC, with better graphics on PC, FPS on both. Playing on the same game means that PC players enjoy better graphics, fps, resolution, controls.
Before that generation, console and PC where a totally different world, with different specs, different major genres, different game engines, different games, totally different monitor.

From insecurity.
