See that link above? It, like many other review scores seem to think it is acceptable to rate this game a 90 or below for little to no reasons.

One site even reviewed it without online! Why is it that Eurogamer, the the second biggest Nintendo Enemy after Pachter, gave it what it deserves, but everyone else is being foolish?

Have I played it? Course not! But I know it deserves a 9.5 or higher. I just do. Anyways it does not matter what the facts are, I am still personally disappointed. I did not follow Augens hype rule and now.....

I don't understand why reviews matter to people? If you like the series you're gonna buy the game and if you enjoy the game that should be enough satisfaction. What other people think of it should matter very little to you. Example - I really enjoyed Sleeping Dogs while all my friends thought of it as another GTA rip off, didn't make me like the game any less. People bitch about sites like IGN ruining the gaming industry with their reviews but in my opinion people who take these reviews to heart are the ones who are ruining the industry. Unless you helped develop the game, reviews shouldn't matter to you.

Reviews are great for people unsure whether they want to get into the series or what not but if you already know you'll like it then it honestly shouldn't be of any concern to you whether it scored a 90. I don't understand why people think a good review = a good game. Not everyone in the world is gonna agree with that.

I was just expecting many more 100's. These scores are good, but from the trailer, I was thinking GotY!

 

It probably will end up GOTY. The competition doesn't exaclty have a stellar lineup for the fall at this point (in comparison to MK). Also, the Mario Kart series always seems to be a reviewed a little unfairly (MK64 only has an 83 on metacritic, which is absolute horse shit!)

I find it interesting that the lowest rating mk8 has received so far came from a place with Nintendo in the name.

Yes. Aside from the score, nwr review points out some interesting flaws and it gave me the impressions that they actually played the game unlike some other sites and magazines that just throw high scores to HD and great graphics.

Without a real battle mode the game is completely ruined, Battle Mode was by far the best part of the game, especially for skilled players. Since Mario Kart on the SNES, I spent 90% of my time in battle mode. If this does not get fixed by DLC, I will not buy the game.

I would rate it below 70 for this reason alone, how could the destroy the best part of the game with the most replay value? The rest of the game was always rather boring and and evwen games like Sonic & Sega Racing or Diddy Kong Racing had a much better normal racing mode. Battle Mode was what made Mariokart the better Multiplayer option.
