Forums - Nintendo - Is the Steam Machine a good option for Nintendo console gamers?

I own a Wii U and don't plan on buying another next gen console unless it has free online. Since that's not gonna happen, I was actually thinking about investing in a Steam Machine. Is it a good idea? I really don't care to learn the ins and outs of P.C. gaming, but I'm afraid it won't really be supported. I was planning on getting one of the Alienware boxes. Any advice? Is it a good alternative for someone who just cares about Nintendo like me?

EDIT: I'm not building or buying a P.C. I'm not getting a PS4 or XBO. Those aren't options. Please stop trying to convince me. I just want to know "Steam Machine good or bad." I don't care what you think is better, because I clearly don't think they're better.

Steam Machines aren't a good option for anyone. Just build your own PC is what I'd recommend. There's thousands of guides online to help you out.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Why not simply a PC? I always have Nintendo consoles and a PC.

No, if I want a gaming machine where I can't play most multiplats I'll stick with my Wii U. Just cough up the extra $50 or so and buy a Windows license. And don't buy pre-built PC. Save some money and do it yourself.

No.... they are over priced and terrible value

Its better to get a custom PC rather than a steam machine

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Well if your not going to bother with the ins or outs at all when there are tons of guides then your best bet is to just stick with either of the second generation HD twins. Most of the steam machines are rip offs and the platform will have no future. I don't understand the need to have free online when the majority of PS360 users do not bother with online modes.

If your still consistent about those sentiments against the HD twins then at the last resort you might as well buy a pre-built PC but don't expect good value out of them often times.

i like the steam controler. i would buy.
but still dont have kingdom hearts 3, so im with consoles for now.

As the world's biggest Valve fan; no, get a PC instead.

No need to buy anything, just use a regular Windows PC like the one you probably used to post this. It has waaaaaaay more games available for it than the Steam Machines.
