Why does "everyone" want public voice chat - well, i should rather say: Why do so many people want public voice chat?
Listening to a bunch of people talking shit all the time ... yeah, nice ... thats what I need ...

You can always enter a friend's game via the Friend List widget (at least you can in MK7), so I don't see the problem?

Pokemon has actually been very forward facing as far as online MP goes. I remember when DP came out on DS when you were battling or trading with others you had the option to either enable or disable voice chat. And this was back in DS days. It would allow for some really cool trades to be set up and some nice battle chatter as well.
XY really look that concept to the next level with the always connected environment you can have. Nintendo should really learn from Gamefreak's innovations on the MP side of pokemon.

Plus if you don't want to listen to someone, there's always the mute option. If you don't want to talk to anyone at all, use parental controls to disable voice communication altogether (360 had this). Why not give the rest the option to talk to others in lobbies? I met a lot of like minded people to play with through random online lobbies. The fact that we're still talking about this not being a feature in this day and age is just sad. I just wish people would call their favourite companies out more often for the stupid decisions they make as opposed to just blindly support everything they do. |
I've come to the understanding that critical thinking, the ability to disconnect emotionally and view things without bias, is VERY rare indeed. I think we should have manditory critical thinking classes starting at preschool but, the powers that be don't want it that way. If you have a society of free thinking individuals, that's bad for both big business and world powers alike.
Although I really don't care at all for voice chat in general, the "Invite" option being absent here is disappointing. It would definitely make arranging online matches easier. If the hop-in to a match option is present here on the Friends List (like with MK7) it could remedy some problems, but not all.

I don't think its that rare, although it is definetly a minority.
The problem with internet anonymity is that people aren't held accountable and are given free reign to ignore the ramifactions of lack of critical thought.

Disappointed about public voice chat? I'm actually happy about that. If I wanted to listen to 10 year olds acting like they're everything, I'd play a certain other game (Hint hint)

Do invites even need to be sent what with the tourney options? Can always use miiverse anyway.
Considering the average miiverse post is idiotic I'm glad I don't have to listen to them.

In fact, I wish they had an option on brawl to mute those idiotic text messages over characters.

Damn straight they should. And with the GamePad having a second screen, a Player Search System for Mario Kart 8 could have been possible during online and offline gaming!
