Forums - Sales Discussion - Xbox one will catch up soon with PS4 and then outsell it in the USA

you guys are dream if you think the Xbox will outsell the PS4 globally.... The USA maybe, but globally.... no, not even close. Japan will push the sales over by several million alone, I'm guess somewhere between 8-10 million while the Xbox one will flop there and take like 6 years to get to 1 million. That would be a lot of catching up to do.

No way in hell it gets canned.

What you fail to understand  is that   while the Xbox division may not bring in profits, it strenghtens the Microsoft brand, and helps other divisions indirectly.

Furthermore    it gains marketshare that will help in future generations, like it or not X1 is outselling X360 for the same time period.

Has a better chance then any other MS devision probably, therein lies the realistic possability.  MS is looking at things from a power seat, and any weakness it can easily do without by ridding them selfs of it quickly.

Actually X1 has pretty much lost all maketshare the 360 gained, X1 or PS4 out selling their predesessors early on is very meaningless.

I claimed it will be in USA only from the very start.

This is what a lot of Xbone owners don't understand. I guess it's the Obama generation that primarily buys the Xbone.

Right now, the Xbox division is more likely to get canned than the PlayStation division. It has nothing to do with how the other divisions are doing.

Pretty much this ^^^.

The Xbox brand isn't just a stand alone business.  If anyone would really look at what M$ is doing with all of it's businesses, they would see that they are trying to mimic both Apple and Google.  They are creating one ecosystem that runs cross platforms.  That way all content that you buy, you stay in M$'s world.  M$ is 2-3 years behind already, they will never sell off Xbox and lose more ground.

Every company out there learned a hard lesson from Apple on the whole itunes thing.  itunes owns the music industry and is dominating the movie industry.  That's what led the ipads to sell so well.  M$ even now sells its office for ipad and is releasing it for android soon.  M$ knows it can't alienate its userbase and have them jump ship to another platform.  That's the whole reason why they won't dump Xbox.   Even if the Xbox division breaks even, it is a success.  If it loses a relatively small amount of money, it is a success.  Unless it loses PS3 kinds of money, it will not be dumped.  We have not seen any financials that indicate that the Xbox itself is losing that kinnd of money.  The whole division is made up of many products, and the XB1 is just a piece of that.

Bottom line, the Xbox division isn't going anywhere.

It is near the end of the end....

what?  8-10 million ps4 sales in japan

xbox one will lose because of mainland europe and no 2:1 advantage in the us

otherwise it would win, becaus japan will be nearly unimportant as a homeconsole market

ps4 sales wont hit 5 mio lifetime in japan

xbox one probaly 500k- 1 mio

that results in an 4 mio + sales gap in favour fot the ps4

maybe china can become the next big important market. depends on the abitlity to get the pc gamers to play on theire new big living room tvs...

If ps3 managed 10 million in Japan, Ps4 will surely manage at least 10 million.

in an completely dying homeconsole market? japan is way ahead of ms and totally mobile first :D

ps 4 ist at 600k right now and they would be lucky to manage 1 mio until end of the year.  (average of 15k units a week)

no japan games. just driveclub and lbp to move some consoles

2015 will be even harder without the 350k launch sales.

maybe some blockbuster for the japanese market can compensate that figure, but its still below 1 mio per year in a good cace scenario

so u expect a lifetime cycle of 10+ years?

or increasing sales for home consoles in 2016, 2017, 2018 etc?

Ps4 will be fine. It will reach 1m this year.

The X1 is already selling out at Gamestop due to the price cut.
