lawl, Launch-buyers are fucked and I guess very pissed, if that happens.

why?

I'm happy as a pig in shit and love my kinect enabled xbox.

You really dont see the reason why some early adopters would be pissed?

No, I do not see why any early adopter would be pissed.  Its the reason you are a early adopter.  For people that purchased a X1, with the knowledge that sales were not that great, why would you be pissed.  If you did not have the patience to wait then the only only person to be pissed at is yourself.

Oh come on
PS4 early adopters don't get the finger and no one could have thought the Xbox One would turn out the way it did.
People bought the X1 for whatever the reason with the believe they had in the 360 and got an inferior product which was more expensive.Only half a year later you get the option to save money on the console officially(the X1 is available for 400+tons of games anyway) cause they exclude the unwanted Kinect and the future of gaming(lol) which the whole console was built around.

This won't make people happy.
And if they reduce the price they should have dropped down to 300-350$ - You still get inferior versions of every game.

Where are people getting screwed if you purchased the X1 with kinnect.  If you did not want the console with Kinect why would you purchase it in the first place.  Almost a year later people get another option and there is cause for getting upset.  So when Christmas role around and there will be bundles and other incentive to purchase a console people will be upset about that.  People were suppose to be upset about the temporary Titanfall bundle and price cut as well.  Basically what you are saying is that anytime something happens after you purchase your highend device you should get upset.

@Bold:  Not sure why MS would do something like that.  DId Sony do the same thing when the PS3 was getting inferior 3rd party games.  Why would a business even think like that but then again no busines would.

Yeah.. This is exactly not what I wanted. It's irritating to see Microsoft giving up on Kinect. I guess they don't really believe in themselves now. -.-

Actually this is a good move not everyone wants a Kinect.  Also this makes sense for households that want to buy a second unit you really only need one Kinect.

I love my X1 with Kinect if you feel like you got cheated then cry me a river. Sorry but it's the truth if $100 difference wasn't a big deal when you bought the console why is it a big deal now?

But do you use the Kinect often? Most people here didn't want to use the device which is why they didn't want to pay $100 more for it.

Phil Spencer is good news.

Better late than never! And finally putting media apps outside the pay wall as well.

Microsoft are here to fight it seems.

Why isn't the Wii U "delivering more choices?"

What do you mean?

I'm pretty sure he means a pad less Wii U.

came here to scream "LOL" all over the place, but i think you wouldn't understand it how i mean it.

please, someone collect posts from people saying "microsoft would NEVER sell a kinectless sku". i have read that sentence not only one time, that's for sure.

Sure.

Not going to happen.

No.

We will not be seeing a kinectless Xbox One.

Kinect will always sell with every Xbox One.

MS has enough problems already, they don't need a PS move like debacle.

There will be no Kinectless SKU, it would be like burning Xbox One's next gen right there.

I guess the whole Sony played it safe argument just got buried?

I do have to wonder though, do you think that Kinect Sports Rivals mediocre performance had some form of influence in that decision?

I doubt that just one game would have influenced their decison.  But this is a good decision all around and now they have actually make some good games for the Kinect if they really want people to buy it.

Will there be a "no-Kinect" Xbox One SKU?

DJEVOLVE said:
Not going to happen. They will cut the price of xbox with kinect before getting rid of it.

What happens when MS inevitably drops Kinect?

KHlover said:
The same what will happen once Nintendo drops the WiiU gamepad.

Nothing, because it won't happen at all.
ArnoldRimmer said:
I just don't believe that they will drop Kinect.

Kinect is the one area where Xbone offers something relatively new and different.
Drop Kinect, and what's left behind is pretty much just a weaker PS4. In such a scenario, why should people go for the second best choice, unless it's at least significantly cheaper? And just trying to be cheapest is not the best business model. Much better to offer something that the competition doesn't.
Rogerioandrade said:
They won´t do it. If they drop kinect anyday, they´ll be droping the console market for sure.
tiffac said:
MS will not drop Kinect, the same reason they will not get out of the Japanese market.

They built the X1 strategy around Kinect and removing it will just show they have no faith in their own product and that is a PR disaster waiting to happen.

So its unlikely KInect will be dropped. They will probably do a price drop and just take the loses, if they fall way behind in the sales game and that's a big IF and depends what way behind is to them.

They cant drop Kinect without bringing out a new Xbox Mister OP.

There are 5 Co processors built onto the GPU specifically for Kinect. What do suggest? To please 0.001% of people on the internet they redesign the whole Xbox One now?

fireburn95 said:
They aren't gonna drop kinect, kinect function is pretty much included in all games, and some may require it for stupid voice commands, plus how expensive can kinect be to make, current gen kinect is being sold at £10 brand new at my local GAME store
JayWood2010 said:

Honestly i dont expect them to drop Kinect as it is a selling point for XBO, not a liability.  Plus XBO is selling for a profit. It isn't "The all in one, Xbox One" without Kinect. Regardless of what the numbers say and who sold the most, XBO will likely be making more money than PS4 unless the attatch rate is super high for PS4.

nsignific said:
They won't drop the Kinect. It makes no sense to say that they will.
If they lag behind with sales - they will drop price, of course. But they will never drop Kinect.

who is this person??

Sal.Paradise said:

The price goes down and their sales increase. By then I think everyone except the MS diehards will have forgotten the Kinect-being-core-to-the-experience marketing spiel, and I'm sure those diehards will be more pleased with the sales increase than the squandering of the infinitepossibilities of mandatory kinect integration, so I doubt many will care.

And who is this gorgeous person??

Polygon: Microsoft needs to admit the Xbox One Kinect is a peripheral, not a pack-in

they didnt... yet.

PS3 sure did.

I'd say early ps3 owners got the goose that laid the golden egg actually.

was that golden egg the $100 price drop in less than a year?  Or the less reliable hardware?  Or lack of games available early on?  Early adopters always get screwed in one way or another.  Early adopters paid for the ps3 paid $300 more than what most people paid for their ps3's.  Heck, by the end of this year there will probably be a version of the ps4 that will come with a bigger hard drive and a game or will be cheaper or something like that.  That is obviously a better deal than the early adopters got.

The argument is it is worth the extra money to have more playing time with the new console and being able to play the new games when they come out.  However, you will always pay more for less reliable hardware and a smaller game library by buying early on as well.  So it just depends on what you value more, being able to play games in the new generation as soon as they come out (even though most the games that come out are also available on old generation hardware)  or getting a better bang for your buck.
