I'm pretty sure there was a thread here a couple months ago talking about how MS would never remove the Kinect, but I can't find it (this sites' search function is freaking useless...), does someone know what I'm talking about and can maybe give me a link?

I think a bit of lighthearted teasing is in order.

Yep, Xbone fans were Microsofts biggest cheerleaders for Kinect force bundling. I was saying from the start that Microsoft would have to drop the Kinect to be competitive with Sony. They deserve a couple jokes being thrown their way in good taste. LOL

MS ain't new to marketing incentives. You can guarantee Kinect Sports Rivals being a long-term pack-in this holiday and going forward. Possibly a second game, one that gamers would actually want to play, be included as well. Live Gold 3 month trial, while keeping the $399 sku without any bundled games. Many possibilities to up the value to even the odds.

Thing is, the original Kinect left a bad taste in people's mouth, if they had never introduced Kinect last gen and Kinect 2.0 was the first Kinect ever, then the Xbox One would be destroying the PS4 in sales, even at $499. But sadly it isn't, Kinect has been around for almost three years and there isn't a single killer app for it, now that it's not bundled for it, we can expect less support and all dreams of Kinect 2.0 finally showing some promise is now dead. Even in the holidays I doubt someone will buy the $499 sku when they can get a normal X1 or PS4 for $100 cheaper....I don't think many people see value in kinect.

You could get a Xbox One, Titanfall, and Forza 5 for $450 for awhile and that included a Kinect and it still didn't push that many more consoles, so it'll be interesting to see how much more this does. It would have been a smart move dropping Kinect but not this long after the systems release. Dropping the Kinect now is just a really bad PR move imo. Another thing that they lost by making a Kinectless version of the Xbox One is that now that every console doesn't have one, devs won't bother making Kinect exclusive software because the market will be split with Kinect owners and non Kinect owners..

Um.....that is good news. Gamers never really cared anyway. The fad isn't what it used to be.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Except 360 Games With Gold isn't changing at all.

People already knew this would happen on Xbox One since the games would be newer. (less than a year old)

Not worried about 360. XBox One is the console for MS moving forward and that will have a PS+ style sub, which is fantastic. You will see just how quickly your backlog is going to grow.

Actually unless they throw in some AAA game then I wont be getting any GWG games anytime soon. I need to stop buying all these digital games.

PS+ delivered plenty of what would be considered "AAA" games, so you should surely see those.

Not on release date though since that is not reasonable, just like how with the 360 version of the program you don't get new games.

Just make it  habit to not spend so much money on titles and wait for many of them to make their way to GWG. That and don't just limit yourself to "AAA" titles.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Even to xbox fans, this is a relief. They themselves knew that kinect was a burden. It would be interesting to see how much standalone kinects sell when this SKU comes out.

Today is our day, and nothing can bring us down! Tease away.

I'd love to, if I could only find the thread. lol

Yeah, I remember that especially Selnor was very vocal about the Kinect being integral to the X1 experience and thus unremovable, unfortunately he's banned so there's no fun in going to his wall and rubbing it in his face. Lol

this is good. once good exclusives start pile up and and the first hard revision is offered at $299.99 i will "Jump in"

really glad Microsoft is reacting and really hope they get positive reinforcement for all this.

once question? if the kinect can now be purchased separately, does this mean that people can sell theirs?

So people complain about Kinect being included for a whole year and then they remove and now people complain MS is giving up on Kinect? Their truly is no pleasing some of you guys. MS could give the Xbox One away for free and people would find something to complain about.

You do realise that the people complaining about Kinect ibeing included with the X1 are not necessary the people that are complaining about them dropping Kinect. Think about it for a second. Unless you can point out the people that have contradicted themselves then there is no point in the statement you made.
