I C O. Ico was overlooked back in the time. Then Shadow of the colossus came, nuked every gamer who played it and everyone begin to pay attention to the previous team's work. Ico got a bit of spotlight after that and suddenly ico became one of the most poetic, intelligent, thrilling game of all time. Problem is the game isn't at all.

Ico did not deserved to be completely ignored like back in the time, but that does not make it a good game. Shadow of the colossus is one of the best game of all time in my opinion, but Ico is way, way behind to me.

In second position came Jet Set Radio. The art direction of the game (design, music...) and the concept are perfect. But the gameplay kills everything, the game is rigid, kind of slow and frustrating. The game does sound and look good, but it plays horribly bad. And still people consider it a true masterpiece.

I'd say its pretty easily the best JRPG of the generation...nothing I've seen even comes close. I guess if you start counting handheld games, you might find some competition, but I'm not sure if people consider DS/PSP games the same generation of consoles as Wii/PS3/360

I don't really have much to add to this topic though...most of the "overlooked" games I've played deserve their praise.

If you havent played it, how would you know?

I only played bits. The best RPG ever in my opinion is Xenogears, so i could definitly see it. I liked the little i played, but the graphics were very dated and there were no mech, so i doubt it would be better than Xenogears, but i admit the possibility.

It needs an HD remake.

How about an HD spiritual sequel with mechs?

Yeah, but it lasted long enough anyway, don't you think? Also, I never really get what's wrong with LoL. I never played it though, but what's wrong with it?

I'd say it deserves JRPG of the generation.

LoL is not a bad game by any means, but it gets kinda boring sometimes and the community? Well....
