That's maybe later. But seeing how there already are PS3s with PS2 emulators and that the PS4 might get a PS1/2 emulator, streamed PS1/2 games would only really matter on mobile phones(I don't expect this app anytime soon on TVs) who don't really deliver the same experience.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
| TheGoldenBoy said: Wouldn't that be completely defeating the purpose of PSNow? |
No because as much as people keep thinking PSNow is for BC it's not. The audience for PSNow isn't your typical gamer who frequents forums.
The PS5 Exists.

And I didn't said they wiill release. Just what would people expect it to sell if Sony released. |
Returning backwards compatibility would be fantastic, but letting us play old discs doesn't benefit them financially and that's why they're opting for a cloud service. The cloud games will probably be running on software based emulators as well.
Right, I wasn't presuming you felt Sony was going to do this. I was just pointing out full backward compatibility would be unlikely, they would opt for software emulation because its cheaper.

In Brazil of PS4K and India as well.

Well I would agree with you that they probably would opt to just shrink it and make it cheaper without compatibility and keep PSNow... but being a company trying to profit wouldn't doubt a way to "enable" software simulation by paying a fee (because some markets the PSNow will take several years to kick in).
I would like a retrocompatible PS3, just wouldn't buy because I just collect the "first models" (chassi) of my consoles (they usually are prettier).

PSNow won't be impacted by retrocompatibility on the markets PS3 would sell strongly. Maybe PSN sells would suffer a little (but I doubt most people on poorier countries buy much content digitally).

There is no point releasing a new model. The PS3 has over taken the XBox 360 for second place. The PS3 will crawl towards 90 million Ltd sales with diminishing yearly sales totals over the next two or three years. PS3 is 8 million off 90 million and that may 3 years to reach. PS3 will be lucky to sell another 3 million to crack 85 million before the year's end.
Releasing such a system now would be totally useless, in my opinion. You can get a PS2 with lots of games and 2 controllers for less than 50 euros. It wouldn't push any PS3 sales.

Why would it be pointless?
PS2 was crushing everyone and that didn't kept them from remodeling.
They remodel to further cut cost and all new model give at least a small boost, and the price cut another more sustainable one.
