Of course they replaced one of those chess pieces with Sony's former partners, Insomniac. The same team who Xbox gamers considered second rate last gen when it came to Resistance. |
Resistance is a second rate FPS. IMO.
I think MS has enough system sellers in their hands to push their consoles. Now take away Namco Bandai, Square Enix and Capcom deals and watch Sony tank in Japan where MS is not given a chance.

When you're used to halo and Gears, of course. Insomniac isn't the biggest AAA studio, but of course that half the reason Sony never purchased them. They had been a Sony partner since the PS2 era and Sony kept them around for a reason. Microsoft realizes the value of an Insomniac game, especially being that they love associates of Sony. They'll take any of them...wanna know why? Because they are good and MS knows it. You might wish Sony would fail in Japan, but they need only sell 15-25 million there lifetime. The western world will as always take the reigns in sales.
The reason the Xbox fails in Japan is because its literally a carbon copy of the Playstation to the Japanese and western games dont appeal to the majority of them. This is half the reason Sony sales have slowed down there since the PS2 era. Too many western games.

They still would've done better than MS there.
I totally agree. I've never really been an Xbox guy, but Sony has been disappointing me so much lately. All I see for their E3 lineup are a bunch of ports, remakes, reboots, or sequals. There's maybe two or 3 new original titles only, and I'm sick of their PS4 upgrading of PS3 games.
Microsoft seems to have a more varied lineup, more original content, more surprises and just generally overall more appealing lineup. I still don't have either of the next gen consoles but at this rate, by the time Dragon Age Inquisition comes out, I'll probably lean more towards the Xbox One than PS4.
Don't want more Uncharted, more God of War, more of the same. Want new, original content.

There is no concrete evidence, this is a forum where we discuss opinions. If you are looking for concrete then go to first party sources because you can't ask for that with a straight face on a forum like this.... You should know that. I say that Sony was supposed to have DRM as well because everyone seemed shocked that they didn't have it, including the developers. Everyone thought DRM was going standard this gen. It was an unpopular agreement that pretty much everyone agreed was going to happen. Look at the reaction to Sony announcing they weren't going the DRM route. Developers everywhere were dumbfounded by it. One developer even said something along the lines of "Microsoft didn't back out of DRM because of the whining fans, they did it because Sony forced them to. " I'm not gonna look up the damned quotes for you, if you care that much then go ahead. My second point is just a theory based on the massive number of exclusives Microsoft has and the utterly piss-poor line-up of exclusives Sony has. Their best games are stuff that they stole from Nintendo's third party exclusives list and Japanese games which Microsoft has no hope in hell of gaining traction with. Its a theory grounded in my previous statement supported by the massive number of third party exclusives Microsoft has. I even state that it will either be proven true or false at E3 when the next years exclusives are announced. If its another Microsoft bonanza then that will be your proof. |
I see. In that case, you most certainly cannot guarantee that Sony had similar plans,as you stated. As I suspected.
Of course Sony forced MS to drop their initial policies. That does not mean Sony did have similar plans.
Yes, this is a forum and we make predictions and have theories. However, it's one thing to present a theory and a completely different to say "I guarantee it", since you have absolutely no evidence to support this. Had an EA representative said "Sony ensured us that they would have x policies and then change their minds", then you would have a case. At the moment, there is nothing to suggest that.
As for the exclusives. Piss poor? Well, you're entitled to your own opinion, but just because you find these games "piss poor", it doesn't mean that it represents the general consensus. It's also not a proper argument. Because following this logic I can call anything I want as "garbage" and get away with it. "MS exclusives? Meh. They all suck" (based on what?). The only game that could be considered "piss poor" is Knack. Killzone and Infamous have had overall positive reviews. And that does not even include non-retail games that are considered excellent (such as resogun). Again, just because you don't like them, it doesn't mean they're "piss poor".
Here's what's factually incorrect with your previous post. Please read again what you wrote:
"I don't know if Sony can even recover at this point"
"I think Sony stabbed third parties in the back this gen"
"Either third parties have no choice but to go back and develop for Sony, or they continue throwing tonnes of exclusives at Microsoft"
Please give some examples of Third parties turning their back on Sony. Which third party game is not being released on ps4 which could be interpreted as them turning their back on Sony? Which are these "tonnes of exclusives" that they will continue throwing at MS?
Titanfall? A game funded by MS? Sunset Overdrive? A game funded by MS? Which tonnes of gameS are you talking about?
Had you said that about wiiu, it would make sense. Most Ea games are skipping wiiu. To my knowledge not a single game is not being released on ps4 that is not part of a deal that MS has made with a developer.
So what exactly do you mean by "go back" and "recover"? They never left.

I think MS has done well to get away from the original bad publicity and I'm kind of glad they're trailing Sony cuz they needed an eye opening and a push to improve their genre of games.
That being said, saying that Sony only has a Last of Us remake is a slap in the face, and you need to do some more research before writing a thread like this. Sony has equally some great games like Infamous Second Son, Killzone Shadow Fall, & Knack with some awesome games on the way like Drive Club, Planetside 2, The Order: 1886, Uncharted 4, etc.
Both consoles have some great games coming and don't sell Sony short on their lineup. This gen will definitely benefit from Sony leading and making MS up the ante a bit

Wait...you expect Sony not to bring out new content? Be patient. I thought you knew Sony. Microsoft has a varied lineup because they scout many groups and then pay for their games. Sony depends on themselves first and then look outward, rather than Microsoft who looks outward then looks inside. Think about it. You'll see what I mean by next year.
You see....if you have the blinders on while being in awe of Microsofts launch, then wait until Sony shows you what they really have. This same mistake was made last gen in the first two years of the PS3's life when the "PS3 has no games" line was brought up. What happened next? Glad you asked. Everyone looked foolish and then when third party exclusives dried up, outlets were asking Mircrosoft where their exclusives went.
I was here and was apart of the whole Wii60 initiative on VGChartz back in 2008. I learned from history. I am enjoying the XBox One, but I wont allow it to blind me from the value of my PS4.
;)

agreed with all of that (though I do have an Xbone and WiiU).
I hope that E3 leak was completely fake because that lineup is extremely meh. LoU, GoW, and GT PS3 rehashes and Uncharted 4. Yawn. At least they have The Order later in the year.

PS3 had free online multiplayer for almost all of its games, so is that coming to PS4 next year as well?
I think both companies are going to have many great exclusives but you can't really predict what Microsoft is going to do based on last generation because history doesn't always repeat itself. We have a very different situation this time around in which the console doesn't have a one year advantage, superior versions of many multiplats, etc. We have a Microsoft that will have to work hard for Xbox One sales and the only realistic way of making it a close race again is through aggressive price cuts and a very strong exclusive lineup.
I have no idea how hungry they actually are to make that happen and I don't think many people outside of Microsoft know either.
