Forums - Nintendo - So, Inside Drift is (somewhat) back... Mario Bike 8 confirmed? <(T_T<)

Ever since I saw the Sport Bike I was worried about this, but brushed it off as I thought surely Nintendo would keep the vehichles balanced. The recent revelation of Monster tires getting nerfed only re-affirmed this notion, but today GameXplain dropped the news that inside drift is indeed back, to some extent anyway. See the video linked below for yourselves!

So it just doesn't immediately start drifting inside this time around. Is that really enough to balance it out though? Perhaps some of you Mario Kart Wii experts could answer this!

I see Mario getting a boost because he was bumped while in the magnetic mode. What am I missing?

Surely karts will have that option aswell. Maybe its a special part? Might make you lose speed as a trade off or something.

It would be a terrible gaffe if the bikes had a distinctive advantage over the karts.

Spin boosting! That's what happens whenever you collide with someone while in anti-gravity mode!

lol.. its about the bike automaticly drifting to the inside of the corner.. which results in tighter cornering while there are other bikes which drift to the outside of a corner resulting in a wider corner taking

While there is still (kinda) in-drifting, it seems like it will be balanced by the fact that karts are speedier on straightaways and things like that. If there is an advantage, it will likely be fairly unnoticeable in normal play...

Honestly, we can't really know the full effect of things like this until the game comes out

As Andre said, only certain Bikes have inside drift.

Trueness! There's also the fact that outward drifting has become tighter since MKWii.

The dev at the Direct explained that Karts are faster, and Bikes (I guess sport Bikes to be specific) are better at curves... so they made sure that there is no OP vehicle (unless you somehow exploit the track selections)

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
