Lol. Nintendo is skipping because they have very few games to show and their hardware isnt doing great. Why are you dragging sony / microsoft in to this? To see others to take the route of "surrender" which nintendo has adopted? Grow up man.

Exactly. At last years E3 it looked like they were runnings scared from Sony and Microsofts competition because their shows werent very big.

Yeah. Anyone who has been following nintendo E3 or a long time will know nintendo really has very few games to show. All of their E3 (especially wii) were full of gimmicks.

PS: I wanted to repost above mentioned big pic but by mistake I reported yours. Sorry.

What about Nintendo's E3 2010 conference?

No.

The live audience reaction is pretty cool, but I feel like digital events tend to be higher quality. Whenever Nintendo did have the conferences, didn't you ever just feel awkward listening? I don't know what it is, but these people just aren't meant for a stage. It's just as bad with Microsoft and Sony. Also, I get so bored watching their press conferences. The last time Nintendo did an actual conference, I got bored too. Too much talking, they never get to the point. Digital events skip a lot of unnecessary formalities and whatnot. Finally, mistakes are made on stage, while a digital event can be polished to perfection before it's shown. You can do a lot more with digital events too, adding special effects and whatnot, to make things more exciting. The awkwardness and stupid mistakes that happen at conferences make for some great blooper reels each year, but seriously, do you really want to sacrifice so much quality for blooper reels and live audience reactions? What's so great about live audience reactions? I mean I get that when Miyamoto comes on stage with a Hylian Shield and Master Sword to epic Zelda music and the audience cheers for a new Zelda game, there's a sense of pride you get, but really, is it that important? Would you really miss it that much? Shut up, you wouldn't. Trust me, I don't miss it. I mean it's not like I'm ecstatic it's gone, but I'm not sad in the slightest.

Also, fuck the media. If everyone went digital for E3, all the media outlets would become significantly less relevant, and that would be hilarious.

Yeah, I mean let's all travel back to last years E3 and remember the awesomeness!

Sony:

Here's a video of a wizard and goblin. It's not a game though, which makes this video pretty pointless.

Followed up by making fun of Microsoft because their DRM crap is STUPID.

Followed by some GREAT NEWS GUYS! The two biggest games we're gonna show are NOW MULTIPLAT! (FFXV, and KH3, trailer shown for FFXV, Haley Joel Osmond just basically saying Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming, no real footage to be seen other than a split second of heartless in Twilight Town and a spinning pirate ship.) No release dates.

rendered yellow balls bounce on a white screen.

Microsoft:

WE GOT DRM, MT DEW AND DORITOS! FUCK YEAH, BE EXCITED!!!!! Should have got Gary Busy to be the spokesman.... (Que clap track)

Yeah, completely beats new footage of X, Bayonetta 2, and Mario 3D World; reveals of Smash Bros (with Mega Man), and Mario Kart 8.

I'd be afraid. Lol.

E3 2010 was the only E3 that everyone can agree Nintendo actually won last gen. The one E3 focused on true games and not useless Wii Junk. Gamers, haters all united pretty much to congratulate them on such a great E3. Sadly, Kid Icarus was on the 3DS and not on the Wii, but great nevertheless.

Live = a lot of talk with pieces of substance here and there.
Live = a lot of walking on and off stage
Live = a lot of events that try to use the whole stage that does not always translate well to those that watch it trough yuotube.

Prerecorded = easier to skip uninteresting information as you know where they start and stop segments.
Prerecoded = even people without showmanship but with knowledge (Iwata) can get their voice heard.
Prerecorded = a medium that is equal to everyone, as most viewer are sitting at home anyway.

I thought the E3 2006 conference was also pretty good! They showed Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3 and Twilight Princess which wasn't too shabby!
