Forums - Sony - Driveclub ps+ edition detailed

Why don't they make a normal demo? Which everyone can download.. Ps+ subscription or not? And then have a 40 bucks unlock.. This just seems so restrictive with PS+ draging it around..

This is game is not gonna do well if it keep this shit up. I'm buying the retail version regardless, but it is being marketed stupidly.

So you can pay £42,99 ($50) for Drive Club which is only playable with a PS+ subscription, or you can go to Amazon and spend £49.85 ($60) and own the game forever, for free.

Everything else sounds nice, the digital upgrade sounds like a ripoff. Hopefully this is a typo. We'll know for sure when Sony makes a reply in a few days.

I doubt it, I mean the blog says it

"We think you’ll have a lot of fun playing DRIVECLUB and it’s available from 8th October in Europe, digitally via PlayStation Store and on Blu-ray at your local retailer. If you’re an active PlayStation Plus subscriber and have been playing the PlayStation Plus Edition, but decide you want the full DRIVECLUB experience, you can purchase a one-time upgrade for €49.99/$49.99/£42.99. This will give you access to all five locations, 55 tracks, 50 cars and all 50 tour events, as long as your PlayStation Plus subscription remains active."

It's pretty stupid. But I guess Sony are just testing this out. If it doesn't work then they won't try it again.

They shouldn't be testing the waters. This is the same sh1t we still haven't forgiven Microsoft for, not to mention this game was supposed to be a launch day title.

The PS+ upgrade is a blantant rip off, and it takes advantage of consumer ignorance the same way MS has been doing for years, but considering all the postive PR Sony has gotten so far, this is truly disturbing and hopefully an oversight.

For 10$ more, or waiting a few weeks, one can get the retail permanent copy of the game rather than paying a 50$ to keep the game with a subscription.

Blatant rip off seems like a bit of an overreaction. The reason for the upgrade to be still tied to the PS Plus subscription is probably to prevent people from just using one of those free test codes for PS Plus to get the game cheaper, though that could certainly be done better.

I personally don't see very many people going for this, but honestly, if you plan to stay a PS Plus member then I'd say that there isn't much harm in doing this. I highly doubt that there are many people that are planning to get this game a week before their PS Plus membership runs out, which they then don't plan to renew and if it runs out a couple months later then you probably won't be playing the game anymore anyway.

And it's not the same as MS's DRM, you can still buy the game physically or digitally without upgrading from the PS Plus edition and play the game whenever you want PS Plus member or not.

I doubt the reason for the upgrade is to stymie test code users, because this would be a strange exception to make when these kind of discounts are common in the PlayStation ecosystem. For instance, I plan to buy FFXIV for PS3 just so I can upgrade it to the ps4 version cause the PS3 version is the cheapest.

That being said, regardless of whether it was intentional or an oversight, what truly pisses me off is that it is taking advantage of consumer ignorance. Many PS+ subscribers, who have been getting showered with discounts and free games will see this and buy it overlooking the fine print and when they can't play the game they spent 50$ on without PS+, they are going to be suprised to learn they wasted their money on it.

That is what pisses me off.

hang on a sec, drop $50.00 and you get all the content..

as long as your PlayStation Plus subscription remains active.

Looks like Driveclube is flop waiting to happen.

Because of the upgrade to the PS Plus Edition?

Yeah. If I pay for a $50 upgrade for the full game why do I still need PS+ to acess the game?

How would that make the game a flop? People can still buy it normally through retail.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

don't we need PS plus for online these days,by the sounds of Driveclub you won't be playing much without online sub anyway

That system is....fucking awful.

Its essentailly being treated like DLC instead of a discounted game.  I just.....what.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

The more disappointing news is that there is ONLY 50 CARS, i was expecting closer to 100 :(

But then again they're all high end sports cars unlike GT.

This must be somehow mistyped. Everything you pay for while using PS+ stays with you forever even without subscription. Would be weird if that stopped with this game.

if you have a ps+ game and you buy dlc for the game you lose access to the dlc when you cancel your ps+ subscription.

...appearantly they are handeling the upgrade as dlc to the driveclub ps+ edition.    so basically, the ps+ edition is like a demo and if you like it buy the full game not the demo upgrade.

stupid as hell but whatever.

Wait...really?
