Forums - Nintendo - If Nintendo bought Sega, could they make Sonic a big thing again?

I think sonic would do better with a rayman-esque refocusing on 2d platforming. Sonic made its name on speed but speed doesn't translate well to 3D platforming as it is more difficult to control and you need crisp controls to keep 3D platformers from becoming frustrating.

That and maybe killing off half or 90% of his superfluous 'friends'.

Enough of the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games stuff.

Make the epic Mario vs Sonic game we've been dreaming about since forever.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

plus, sega sammy is big. There is no way Nintendo would buy them if they could even afford to do so. It would flush out all their excess money. I don't think Nintendo even has that kind of money. They have a lot, but not sega sammy amounts...

lol, Sonic would obliterate Mario. That would be the most boring game ever

Relevant in quality or sales? Because Nintendo is struggling to stay relevant even their own franchises. I meant, outside of Nintendo fans.

I wish they could just buy Sonic. But alas...

I just hope that if Nintendo bought Sega that we get Shenmue 3. I could really care less about Sonic. I loved the dreamcast sonic adventure games though.

Could they? Yes.

Would they? No.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Couldn't shouldn't wouldn't.

Possibly, but really what's the point?

Nintendo already has Mario, Donkey Kong Country, Kirby, Wario, and Yoshi that have platforming series'. It's the last thing they need more of.

They'd be better off buying Megaman or something, at least that's a different type of game from what they generally have.
