I don't know know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but Nintendo would be shooting themselves in the foot and Japan would commit public sudoku.
I don't see Iwata making it past 2014. I would guess Nintendo would stick with someone from Japan. I would welcome some fresh thinking from Nintendo leadership

If that happened, I would guess they would make a smartphone (with exclusive nintendo IPs)... Because that's where most of their audience is going

Retro Studios was pretty much born from Iguana Entertainment -- the developers of the Turok series, one of the great 3rd party successes on the N64.
Iwata's a smart, innovation-centric guy, but he and the rest of the folk around him have difficulty understanding the Western market. They ought to give Reggie and the NOA more autonomy.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

How'd they respond to a co-CEO arrangement? I think it's more or less acknowledged they need to give Reggie and the gang more access to the "war chest" to make things happen that will make the hardware a success.
