Zelda A Link Between Worlds is a must. Don't buy Mario Kart 7, it's one of the most bare-bones editions in the series, if not the most. Super Mario 3D Land is good, if you can find it cheap. Maybe you'll like Kid Icarus Uprising too, but I'd recommend watching some videos of it first.

Should you choose to try Kid Icarus, allow yourself time to get used to the controls...

It's one of my favorite 3DS games...

Other favorites include Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, A Link Between Worlds, and Pokemon...

Fantastic third party games include Shin Megami Tensei (and the SMT spinoffs), Bravely Default, Kingdom Hearts, and Resient Evil Revelations (of you haven't played it yet)...

There are some upcoming releases you should investigate as well...

Haven't had a chance to play it yet. Actually, I haven't really played any of the 2D Zeldas, so I want to get to the others before I play this one.
