IT might be a new handheld same as when the DS released in the middle of the GBA cycle. They need to do something drastic imo.

"New hardware" could mean any number of things.

It certainly won't be "a new home console" or "a new flagship handheld".

Things like the Wii Fit U "Fit Meter" is technically hardware.

They may have new hardware on display, but if they do, it is probably something a lot less exciting than what people typically imagine that to mean.

Still expecting a Nintendo tablet with the ability to stream to a tv. There is a market for that i think.

They could maybe make some add-on that slots into the expansion port at the bottom of the Upad, incorporating a synced SD card / internal storage medium, to make it act like a portable gaming system. That could be some sort of fightback against all the "OH MAN THE PSVITA COULD DO ALL THIS" stuff, but since only a dozen people would even appreciate it, the end result would actually be a stalemate; a "0-0" score in the game of apathy.
