If they were showing new hardware, it would be ON STAGE at E3. No way they would release a new console in a Direct.

so are you going on the record as "no new hardware"?

Yes.

Wait as in brand new console Or both with a new revision? Cuz they can show off a new revision and thats new hardware (meaning you dont need to be on a stage)

Since Wii U and 3DS are underperforming, any revision would have to be a mass market appeal attempt too (e.g. DS Lite/PS3 Slim), and require a stage.

Could still be some sort of HW revision or peripheral.
In the IGN podcast they considered those possibilities and said that they didn`t trust the rumours to begin with. Only Peer was a firm believer that something HW related was going to be shown.

100th reply.

the system isnt that old and it has already two revisions. How much more can they do. Better yet what can they do to make it better? only thing that i could see tht would be a real improvement is adding another stick on their, but i would be shocked if Ninty actually did that as there are not alot of games that could use it. Im all ears

Ok? Its now over 3 years old so it cant have more revisions? Making More Revisions will Extend 3DS life/increasing sales/etc (which is a given).

How would i kno, maybe surprise us like Nintendo does best. Ex, who would of thought of 2DS? Cheaper to make which gives consumers an option of 3 to choose something more affordable and/or for a younger audience.

Giving us options are always a plus for anything really. I dont get why you think it would be a bad idea, anything can happen. Like off the top of my head, A PRO 3DS XL. Like you suggested gives an extra stick with maybe better improvements like grip, or much better extended life. For players that like MH (coming out in the West as well) and more importantly SSB? Can do a Pro 3DS XL Bundle with SSB?

Or something completely random? Anything can happen!!!

im not saying it cant have more revisions, im saying WHY would it need more revisions? why are we even talking about extending its life when its 3 years in?

Cuz its at a decline thats why, making more revisions is always a good thing. Not saying its needed exactly, but who knows, we got a new revision of 3DS prettty fast. (XL after  1 year and a half, then 2DS a year and 2 months after XL!)

Ok honest question: How would be place this among the gen?

It would either:

1. Start from 0 sales in the 8th gen and be that much in last place since X1 and PS4 have a year head start. Not favourable for Nintendo or their online forum warriors.

2. Prematurely start the 9th gen, which means Nintendo will have.....at least 5 years of a head start

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Nintendo OWL is a third pillar. They are regarding it as a primarily software platform.

It's already confirmed by Nintendo, no new hardware at e3 2014. And thank goodness, because they'd be going the way of Sega by releasing too much hardware too often.
