I think you forget how unpopular double dash was. The karts on that game looked hideous and everyone hated the partner system. It was agame that didnt deliver what fans wanted at the time, just like zelda ww.

MK8 is nothing like double dash. Graphics are top notch, no ugly kart or partner system. Its what fans want. An actual evolution of the series into 3D, something DD never delivered on. I remember Mario kart arcade beeing out at around the same time and people saying they wanted that instead. I believe the game later changed into Mario kart wii.

For the record, i know the thread is about 2014, but that was boring so i prefer to adress the comparisons to double dash.

Easily. I don't think MK8 will fall out of the top 20 in software for an entire year btw also ;)



I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The Club Nintendo promotion. If you register Mario Kart 8, you'll get a download code for free.

European games: Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, Wind Waker HD, Sonic Lost World, Mario & Sonic Sotchi, Wii Party U, The Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

NA games: New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, Wind Waker HD, Wii Party U.

Poor Americans, they don't get The Wonderful 101.

Register Mario Kart 8 at Club Nintendo anytime between launch and July 31st, and you'll get a free download code to one game of your choosing! The selection depends on where you live. NA has NSMBU, WWHD, Pikmin 3, and Wii Party U while EU has all of that plus The Wonderful 101, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Wario Ware, Monster Hunter 3, Sonic Lost World, and one more that I forgot about.
