According to me? How so? All last gen, the "extra" features that added value to the PS3, Xbox fans apparently didn't want. They only cared about games. I didn't matter if "in reality, the PS3 is cheaper than the 360. To be equivalent, the 360 would cost $750" because you could get a 360 for $400 and be happy with it. Don't act like just a couple months ago at launch, these boards weren't lit up with people saying "when you factor in Kinect and the HDMI pass through, the XBone is actually cheaper than PS4". It may not be you specifically (and in all honesty, my post wasn't an attack or even really targeted at you), but Xbox fans here (and in other places) certainly have done this. And I would classify that as flip flopping, since you guys used to only care about games and extra features didn't matter.

And what other console, before the PS3, was as much a gaming device as a non-gaming device? Internet browsing, media server, its own music service, original content like Qore, etc. Do you think MS would have done this with the XBone had it not been successful with the PS3? Because it looks like it's precisely what they're doing: making a big deal out of all the extra, non-gaming features in order to justify the higher cost. "You'll get to do more than just play games with XBone". That's pretty much what the PS3 model was.

And like I said, I don't think it's a bad thing that MS is taking this approach. What I'm calling out is how Xbox fans are cool with it. MS is taking the same "Sony approach" to the XBone that Xbox fans used to denounce the PS3 not too long ago, but now that it's on their console, it's the best thing since the wheel.

Come on with this generalizing rewritten mess. You keep saying this shit like every xbox fan agreed. The 360 had Netflix 1st and was talked about the same way. Did the media extender also. They both were/are media devices.

"Not everyone did this, so you can't make a statement of obversation to what....75% of people did". And I'm sorry, but Netflix isn't something that increases the cost, outright, to Xbox, nor is it something that is exclusive to Xbox to make it seem like the higher price is justified. Things like blu ray, before the hack, OtherOS so you could put Linux on your system, being able to web browse, exclusive content such as Qore and Music Unlimited, all of these non gaming things Sony pushed to make it seem like the PS3 was a better value than 360. When was 360 pushing non-gaming, multimedia aspects to make it seem like the 360 had more value than what you paid and more importantly, when did you guys start caring about multimedia/non-gaming features? I'll tell you: in the last 2 years, especially with the direction the XBone is going.

The biggest annoyance of xbox for me is the power brick. PS3/PS4 only need a standard power and hdmi cable, easy to move to a different tv. XBox either you have the power brick hanging outside the AV stand or you need to dig to get it out. At least the WiiU has the gamepad as that also has an annoying power brick.

i never said all night long.   but when american idol, the voice, x-factor or any of that other shit my wife wants to watch goes on i leave posthaste.  she hates gaming as much as i hate shitty tv so it works.

That's normal, dunno how long you have been married. Currently my wife is watching Dancing with the stars, while I'm browsing vgchartz on my laptop and the kids are allowed to watch Disney Jr for a bit in the bedroom. Peace and quiet, everybody happy.

Can you tell me the last time any home console was called a "Video game console" by the manufacture? If i remember correctly the Xbox said Video game console on the box. playstation has always said "entertainment system" I think nintendo is the only one who makes and refers to their own system as a game system. This has been the direction of home consoles for years. MS is doing nothing new here.

Because they realize FireTV, AppleTV and GoogleTV will continue to grow in all content including games and they want to cement their place in the house first. Just going from a game centric starting point. Really no different than Sony. PS4 is just a better system overall so people don't make a big deal out of its media center capabilities. Sony did a better job advertising it as games first.

Being a Multi-Media Device is great and I am happy that companies are moving forward with these types add-ons to their consoles and devices, but I think a lot of people are missing the point with what is happening with "TV" these days .... it is dying.

TV (cable) is dying and having one of the primary focuses of your device being that it is included with your Cable subscription is a very very very bad idea. And with that said I feel like it was the wrong choice to be pushing it as one of the main feature's.

I agree, & I'm glad that Microsoft's plan of taking over the living room is failing hard.

People nowadays view TV shows, movies, etc. through streaming nowadays on such devices like Smart TV's, Smartphones, Apple TV's, Roku's, Tablets, & many more. Live TV is 1990's - Early 2000's shit.

It's only a matter of time before people start streaming sports as well. Like Method114 & Muffin31190 said, Cable TV is on it's way out.

The problem for MS is that I can get a PS4 and any one of those other devices for the same price as an XB1.  So I get a better gaming device AND a better TV device that I can use on separate TVs if I so desire.
