i can get behind this.

i think my main critique of NDs is their length.  modern news outlets can't digest more than 30 seconds of material at a time.  with NDs the media clips their favorite 30 seconds of news and the rest falls through the cracks.  it means they might dominate the new outlets for a day but next 59 days they get no coverage.  ms and sony with their tweets get a new something written about them twice a day and more of the message gets publicised in the bite sized chunks.

smash bros on wii made an announcement of every character and every level and pretty much every piece of music, trophy, item, ect.   i think that did a great  job at building the hype.

I agree. As good as this weeks directs have been, I couldn't help but think they would do better if they had Smosh or another internet celebrity/gamer make the presentation. The E3 announcement was quite hilarious though.

And your support for the statement that an E3 Direct which interested people view on a stream reaches less people than an E3 conference  which interested people view on a stream is _________________.

That the conference will get a more positive writing for press than a separate Nintendo Direct, casually like last year.

You know, the same press that do online shows, writes in newspapers and webs, etc.

And casually my support it's all the negative press Nintendo has been getting since last year, which also casually fits with the bad sales.
