That is not what I was told 2 pages back.

This guy had the only common sense here. Literally NOBODY was talking about Towerfall after the PS4 release and then people still expected it to be over 250k on one platform with no question lol.

Maybe because it really doesn't confirm anything like that.
Early gen is the right time for indies to get a lot of sales. With few AAA titles out there to attract attention gamers get more into the cheaper indies while they await the big releases. Later in the gen the indies are fighting for attention bot with all the other indie games out there, and with the huge library of AAAs, especially the older AAAs which have dropped into the bargain bin price range. So releasing early gen certainly helped Towerfall, much as being a launch title no doubt helped Resogun sell too. Games still need to be quality though, people aren't going to buy rubbish to fill in time, so Towerfall has that going for it too of course.
Good to see these games succeeding regardless of the various factors that go into the success.
And why do so many nexgen games have "fall" in the title? Even Destiny has us fighting the FALLen. Is it the new meta?

So it grossed $500K. Which means 50K games actually sold, or less, across all 3 platforms, with Ouya making up over 10% of sales. PS4 version sold ~22K.

Just to make clear... Eurogamer added that on the article.
"[Editor's Note: We mistakenly reported that Towerfall had sold 500K copies, when in fact it had grossed $500K in sales. We've since corrected amended the article and apologise for the error.]"

Yeah, I saw that. The depressing part is that people ran with the initially incorrect version of the article and didn't question the numbers. |
This ^ it seems that anything that has to do with PS4 obviously is selling amazingly with no questions asked. Not realizing that the game is not that big at all. Those crazy numbers would have been close to $3m from the PS4 version alone.
This was a funny turn in this story.
So Towerfall has sold somewhere between 36-40K units on all platforms, considering it is over $500K now and some number were sold at $12.
So really, the big story here is that it managed 7K on the Ouya! Ouya burning up the charts. ( ;

Oh I see, but Trials also had physical release so not all of those 150k sales are digital. I personally think that Battlefield and then Infamous are the best selling digital games on PS4 going by their number of PSN ratings, which as far as I know can only be given by someone that bought the game through PSN. That's of course not including games that were free with PS+ |
Yeah but I consider Trials fusion more of a PSN(indie) game than a retail game =p. Especially considering the history the franchise have..
