Early gen is the right time for indies to get a lot of sales. With few AAA titles out there to attract attention gamers get more into the cheaper indies while they await the big releases. Later in the gen the indies are fighting for attention bot with all the other indie games out there, and with the huge library of AAAs, especially the older AAAs which have dropped into the bargain bin price range. So releasing early gen certainly helped Towerfall, much as being a launch title no doubt helped Resogun sell too. Games still need to be quality though, people aren't going to buy rubbish to fill in time, so Towerfall has that going for it too of course.
Good to see these games succeeding regardless of the various factors that go into the success.
And why do so many nexgen games have "fall" in the title? Even Destiny has us fighting the FALLen. Is it the new meta?
