Forums - Gaming - Google game console ‘Coming Soon’

The rumour of Google’s game console have been surfacing as of late. Insider reports claim that Google’s inside project is called ‘The Nexus Orbit’ and a recent U.S trademark (#2100986) has been made to secure the name Orbit for ‘Video and Computer use’. All signs point towards a game console, or could it be just a terrible misunderstanding?

Rumours first started to spread when Google recently patented a video game related trademark with ‘intent to use’, so it could show that in the near future they could be releasing some sort of game console like Sony or Nintendo or could it be Google’s take on the table-top streaming device, with gaming as an add-on instead of the main feature, such as Amazon’s Fire TV. Also, some experts think that Google is toning down its Google+ service on PC’s to try to develop it for console usage, such as MiiVerse or PsPLUS. It could be also a similar feature to the share button where you could share your footage and screenshots to your friends or put it in your circles.

Google’s possible table-top device

Next thing up is Google’s purchase of ergonomic company ‘ B Comfortable ‘ which co-designed the MOGA iOS game controllers. This could also point to Google designing a controller for its Orbit system, whatever it may be. Some people could argue that it could be designing the remote for the table top device, but what much design do you need for a simple remote? I could design one right now, and I’m sure you could to. So the evidence here clearly points to some sort of a device whether it be gaming or a stream service. One last thing to debunk about the stream device is that Google already has one. The Chrome Cast (You can check out my article on that too right here on GoogleQuake). So what purpose would another one be, just to cut it’s audience even more?

So considering the aforementioned points, what could it be? A slightly more focused table-top system with gaming as more of a priority? Or a possible fully dedicated game console, in which seeing Google’s history will probably be mid-end device with a low price. So what do you think? Post your thoughts below and thanks for reading.

big companies want some pennies from the market

For goodness sake, was my first reaction to this. Seems like everyone wants a slice of the Games industry cake...

Finally they can get their slice of the huge and completely untapped market of android consoles.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Every company wants dem dollars! Can't blame them though!

I thought the mobile market is big enough why make a console :S

Probably be more like fire TV than a game console.

Either way I'm intrigue.

It's good that Google already have a thriving marketplace set up so they they may capitalise from any content that may shift big numbers in this new ecosystem.

Imagine how much more they'd thrive if other content providers with their own delivery methods were to just give up and choose this conduit instead!

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

Sweet!Aalways good to hear about a console I'll probably never buy, but gotta love dat competition.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

all these companies are going to drive the general consumer crazy and confused lol. They will kill the market and all these boxes will become glorified media centers with gaming support.
