The Saturn had four years in Japan and Europe, however only 3 years in North America. |
I'm pretty sure in the US it launched in 1995 and the Dreamcast, 1999.

It was discountined in mid 1998 for NA and it lanuched in may 1995, so its more like 3 years than 4 years.

MK8 And Smash will be huge commercial flops. They will sell well below expections. Zelda and other announced IPs will be moved to whatever console Nintendo releases next. Sometime by 2015 or 2016 at the very latest.

At this point this is expected. I would call this a very Unbold prediction.
Prediction: predictions like this will never stop despite it never happening.
the only thing I can see is that they discontinue the software support end 2015 and release a wiiu2 end 2017.
I actually wanted to make the same thread. By the end of 2015 all major titles will have launched, and third party support we be all but non existened. Nintendo will probably launch one new system in 2016 to replace both 3DS and Wii-U.
Even if its not formerly discontinued, the Wii-U will be dead by the end of 2015. And Nintendo is not going to put effort in developing new games for it.
I don't thimk the system not passing 9 million by the end of the year is that bold a statement either. I definitely do not expect it to pass the 10 million mark this year, unless they announce a huge price cut.

A most sensible reply. But I honestly don't think a price cut is the saving grace. Just like the "MK8 & Smash evangelists" are hopelessly clinging to past heavy hitters. The bottom line is this: no one wants the Wii U. There's just too many factors weighing it down.
I'd wager 90% of its owners are die-hard Nintendo fans. The rest is split between casual families and other hardcore gamers (those who own a PS3/PS4 or 360/X1). You can only milk your own fanbase for so long. At some point you need other diverse groups of consumers to pick up the pace.
Wii U will be around for 3-4 years yet.... Will sell 25 million lifetime
| Renzan said: N already sold 8 million Wii U. Like usual, after 5 years from Wii U strat there will be new N console, but it is normal for them. |
It was at 5.86m shipped as of Dec 31st. It is nowhere near (i.e. months away) 8m sold.
