Come on, they won't buy entire publishers... Some of them even have more employees than Nintendo.

I hope they buy more studios like Retro and Monolith.

They can though. Obviously they will try to buy their IPs first before buying the whole publisher.

Yes, maybe the Mega Man franchise or Monster Hunter exclusivity.

If we're pretending that they can buy a company based on it's "worth" just by dropping a check on a table then I say Deep Silver. Saint's Row and Dead Island on a Nintendo home console would be interesting.

Really, though, Nintendo missed out big-time during the THQ fire-sale.

Indeed they did. They also missed the boat when they had the opportunity to buy out Retro.  Look at all those great franchises Micrososft pretty much made irrelivant as they benched them to collect dust lol.

They should first go for Capcom, or some small studios, like Next Level Games.

Buying Capcom, would give them control over another of the Videogame Series titans in Japan, since they would hold Monster Hunter in their grasps. A revival of Mega-Man could also occur under their hand, and bring back old players and should get some good sales. Though only getting the IPs, could also be a good idea, though seeing how they are short in employees for development, it would be better to buy the company as a whole.

Next Level Games, even thouh a small studio have proven its worth, and seeing how they have stated that they will only work with Nintendo from now on, thanks to how Nintendo treats them, making them permanently part of the Nintendo family would be a good idea, specially since they have work in some sports games, so they can bring Nintendo some good Sports game.

Unless they can make Sonic good again, Nintendo shouldn't touch SEGA, simply negotiate with them, and buy Atlus from them.

Level 5 should also been bought, even if it simply is, to make sure that Yokai Watch, which seems to be the new big series in Japan, doesn't expand to other consoles, unless they can work something and only get the IP.

COMG guide to points: 1 point = Raging. 2 points = Beasting. 3 points = Tearing it up. 4 points = Berzerk. 7 points = Rampage. 12 points = Burst. 15 points = god mode. 20+ points = DIVIDING BY ZERO!!! 40+ points = Youkai (originally Pokemon).

-1 = Negabeasting. -5= NegaRampage. -10 = NegaBurst

Obviously, Nintendo lacks third party support on both the Wii U and 3ds. If Nintendo has around $11 billion in cash reserves why dont they go on a buying spree or just the aquisition of companies's IP's. There are so many companies they can buy, western and eastern. Ubisoft as a whole is only worth $1.34 billion. Square Enix is worth around $2 billion. Konami is worth around $3.5 billion. Capcom is worth around $1.2 billion. Take Two Interactive is worth only $2.05 billion. If Nintendo bought all of these companies I listed they would still have a billion dollars left (I am not saying they should buy all these but I am showing that they have enough to acquire at least two of these companies). Even Valve is only around $3 billion. (It is rumored to be worth more than EA GAMES which is at around $3 billion as well which is weird since Electroic Arts is worth $8-9 billion)

Imagine if Nintendo were to acquire Capcom or Konami or Square Enix and Ubisoft or Take Two Interactive or even Valve. In my opinion Nintendo should acquire Square Enix and/or Capcom along with Ubisoft and Take Two interactive. That would come up to a total of approximately $4.6-6.6 billion. They do not even need to acquire all of the company but just enough to gain exclusives and extra features. Nintendo is missing huge oppurtunities by not buying third party companies.

Who do you think Nintendo should buy?

According to this they have 4.9b in cash reserves.

Nope.  11.6b as of May 2013:

Ninty's posted losses since then, but not that much.

Rare and all their assets from Microsoft

It would be awesome if Nintendo bought up more of my favorite companies. Then I could constantly beg for every single game to be localized.

They lost all their talent though.

Considering this thread is all about throwing our inner baseless, hopeful wishes out there, I might as well add to it. In that case, my wish would be that they buy Square Enix. That way Kingdom Hearts will be all mine... hehehe.

Don't think OP knows how business works, unless this is imagination, then they should buy Sega or EA obviously.
Sega for Japan, EA for everywhere else.

How does business work? Companies can buy other companies. Whats your point?

These companies need to be put for sale, before they can be bought, and its rare that a company would sell any assets including shares of itself at its market value since they want to make money of course. Furthemore, the company will need to have shares public enough that the company buying them could have a controlling stake in them, its not as simple as spending a cash reserve :|
