I don't understand why people do this. Is he making money be creating this hack?

Is there anything MS can do legally to these hackers?

Its never been about money for hackers, its about ideology and pride.

Well... And money too... From what I have noticed, hardware hacks usually come before software hacks and they charge a hefty price for hardware hacks ranging from $40 to $100+ so I think its a bit of both loll

Have you slept throught the whole George Hotz debacle?
Long legal battle, lots of criticism to Sony for suing the nobel hackers, and made no damn difference as the keys were out there anyway.

I forgot about him. I never understood what the outrage was against Sony going after hackers.

How would this justify MS bringing back DRM. If the bone still had DRM it would probably have been hacked already by now to play second hand games.

Well, they actually ran some version of win 8 there, so its no surprise.

And people were like: my privacy and liberty is compromized by this drm police. Yeah, rigth. Its all about getting games for free.

exactly,.. and i fucking hate pirates.

there is a reason the industry is turning to free-to-play and online-only and dlc.   for all the complaining people like to do about these new business models the pirates are to blame.  why some people have such a problem with paying for the things they want that others put a lot of time into i will never understand.

typically those selling the hacks aren't the ones who discovered them in the first place. You can also pirate hacks ;) pirateception.

Wow, this was quick if its true! I am gonna keep an eye on this one. Might get an x1 instead of a ps4 after all but we will see

Previous consoles/handhelds mostly took years to get hacked, x1 took only months? Jeez

Not really. BTW at this point of time it was already possible to play pirated games on 360.
It will take several months for this to happen on X1.

Really? I thought it was longer than that? I am trying to find this article I read once that said how long it took for each console but I can't seem to find it. But oh well, I will take your word for it

i dont think it is true... we still doesn't have homebrewed 3ds and wii u... and from previous reports... hacking wii u would be the easiest thing in the world... if this is true then microsoft did it themself...

history recall best selling consoles are easily hacked... wii, ps, ps2, ds... and psp was so popular worldwide with the .iso in torrents.

Well they aren't fully hacked, but people have still done some work on them:

Xbox Live fans: "I am paying for security". :)

Reality: There is no security where hackers reside. ;)

X360 in Croatia is far far less popular than PS3, but out of those that are sold, about 95% are modded.
Heck, even stores offer modification as a service, you purchase it, pay taxes to the government, everything...

http://sophoslab.hr/modifikacije-i-servis/86.html

(Sorry, it's in Croatian).

It is commonly used theory that Microsoft purposely made modifications simple, to gain foothold in countries in which they wouldn't be sold much or at all. They know that their main markets for software sales are USA and UK, and in those countries piracy laws and enforcement are very strict, so they don't have to worry about mass modification.
In Eastern Europe, where Playstation is synonimous with gaming console, they know they would never sell games... so they just try to shift consoles and make a quick buck. They offer no support, no customer service, no localized Live service, no retail games unless imported by individuals.
Heck, all X360s in Croatia have a UK power brick with a free outlet adapter, so basically every XBox sold in Croatia is tallied in the UK sales report...
