Its never been about money for hackers, its about ideology and pride.

Well... And money too... From what I have noticed, hardware hacks usually come before software hacks and they charge a hefty price for hardware hacks ranging from $40 to $100+ so I think its a bit of both loll

typically those selling the hacks aren't the ones who discovered them in the first place. You can also pirate hacks ;) pirateception.
