Seeing the world overhead makes it easier to see in tall grass. See where the grass start and end. It's part of the game style established many years ago. If it ain't broken don't fix it. I could understand how ppl would like it to change for many reasons but it's not worth a complaint and put down the overall critic score of a game since it's not a broken system that has always been like that
I don't subscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. If it can be improved, improve it. The Gen 3-5 type chart wasn't broken, but it could have been improved. XY improved it. Final Fantasy worked as an over the head view JRPG, but it's far more immersive begind the back. FFXII improved it. The world isn't overhead "to see grass more easily." It's overhead because the original gameboy couldn't handle a behind the back, 3rd person JRPG, and the next standard was over the head. Since then, they've never had a system powerful enough to handle a full scale JRPG like that so it became a staple aesthetic. That shouldn't be the case anymore. It is worth the complaint. The series isn't evolving at the pace it should be, and that's an issue. Mario evolved. Zelda evolved. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest evolved. Even Digimon is evolving. Why hasn't Pokemon?
The only thing I can say refers to the underlined part. You barely see other players. The only time you see them is when you battle them and you see them for a second before they throw their first pokéball so it's not a big deal how others look like. What should matter is whether or not your character looks good TO YOU. But you are totally right in a sense that it's hard to make your character look the way you want with so many option. You are right in many regards and I'll be standing with you side by side throwing rocks at gamefreaks if they don't upgrade this in the next game.
Saying "it doesn't matter because you barely see other player misses the point, and even still, that's only true for some people. I see other players all the time. I actively trade and battle and interact with other people, exactly the way the game is designed to be. The whole reason the PSS exists is to see others. They made a facebook clone just so you could see others. On miiverse, you're always seeing others, and when they are guys the always look virtually identical.
The way I look at it, no matter how many pokémon they add, their is only a handpick that are worth using. Currently out of 80 new pokémon I only use Talonflame and Greninja. That does'nt mean that they are the only new pokémon worth playing but so many like Froufrou will stay in my box for ever and ever. I'd much rather live in a world where gamefreaks add less new pokémon but with much bigger % of these pokémon being usable and not total trash filler and I think they did a ''ok'' job about that this gen.
The fact that you only use two of the available Pokemon highlights exactly why the small Pokemon count is such a problem. You aren't supposed to like or use every Pokemon. In fact, you're supposed to not like a lot of them, which means that the ones you do use will be more unique when you use it. You'll be "one of the few" who uses the Pokemon you choose or the team that you choose. The less Pokemon there are, the less unique each individual new Pokemon becomes. I'm sure you've come across plenty of trainers who have both of those Pokemon. That didn't happen in prior generations. Of course there are more popular Pokemon in each generation, but with less new Pokemon, there's far less variety between them.
As for legendaries goes, I agree with you on the mythical creature part, I approach them the same way. I see them as unique mythical creatures that I had the miracle experience to meet. So as you can see I like to play my game with a RP state of mind when I play pokémon. But it's hard to see these pokémons as legendary miracles when you have enough to fill two party. Also their is so many that now few have a good back story. I had a really hard time to see Shaymin and Keldeo as good legendary beasts lol. I think anywhere between 4 and 6 is the right amount, 10 is rediculus but I guess we will have to agree to disagree, if you'd be happy with 30new legendary per game good for you :P As for the underlined part, I did'nt count Diancy and the other two pokémon discovered by hacking since their are no available. And you must be smoking good stuff to think Zygarde is cool lol. And it's not just his lame look (he look like a fat slow good for nothing obese snake) but it's also his ability that is totaly useless unless your fighting Yveltall and Xerneas (but lore wise I guess his ability makes sense)
Well I don't use legendary Pokemon at all. I see them more as boss battles. It weirds me out when I see others using them. It highlights how infinite these "mythical creatures" really are, and breaks my immersion. If you're using enough legendary Pokemon to "fill who parties," it's your fault for trivializing the Pokemon, not the game's fault for including them. As long as the amount of non legendary Pokemon balances out the ammount of legendaries, I don't really care how many they add. I just want it to enrich the lore of the region.
Zygarde is unique. It's a giant, hulking creature that looks menacing. It doesn't have to look "cool" for it to be well designed. It's supposed to look like a deity, not like an accessory.
Idk, it was just a hypothesis. But Kalos is based on France's culture, not its geography.
...No. It's based on both. It's shaped like france and has many of the same locational parallels. Paris is geographically in the same place as Lumiose, etc.
What I meant is that the game already has a kiddy story about friendship. Now tell me, if they add voice acting do you seriously expect them to add deep serious voice acting with award worthy voice actors? Or do you expect them to hire ppl from kid's show with obnoxious loud voices that appeal to kids? Voice acting would only make the game feel more like a saturday morning cartoon. And what is so bad with reading and using your imagination? It's part of the charm. Not everything needs voice acting, that's also good for those who wants to add voice acting to Zelda.
It doesn't need award worthy voice acting. Even voice acting of the same quality as current anime would be good enough. Who cares if it sounds like a Saturday morning cartoon if it matches the plot? Even so, I was talking about voice acting in conjunction with the other improvements I talked about. Voice acting with better presentation and a better story.
And don't get me started on the stupid "reading text is more immersive" bullshit. It's not more immersive. It's tedious and should only be present as an option. This isn't a book. It's a game. It doesn't lose anything by presenting voice acting as an option with the ability to turn it off if you really hate it that much.
And Zelda also needs voice acting, but that's a whole nother story.
