30 is fine, don't know what your problem is. But the Koopalings are pretty much a waste though, they should have added in more interesting characters instead of them.

30 is a decent amount of characters. ( Let's not compare it to Mario Kart 64's 8 characters :P )

Also, DK is in it, so I'm happy.

That's perfectly fine! Really, I don't understand all the Honey Queen hate. She's about as useful as Rosalina or Waluigi, but no one complains about them!

Well 30 is actually the most characters in any Mario Kart to date so its an improvement over the other ones.
