Watchdogs would not have sold well on WiiU, the userbase is not there and we have actual factual evidence to back that up looking at third party sales on the system.

Ubi is leaning on Nintendo to increase the userbase for the Wii U version with MK8 and Bayo 2

Nah they're not. There are 6m WiiU's out there sold because of Nintendo franchises like DK, Mario, Zelda and others. Hence games like AC and COD (the big third party hitters) reach a mere 300k. What do you think and extra 1m/1.5m consoles sold primarily to people that again like Nintendo franchises is going to do to the sales of AC ect??

Ubi have made a great effort on WiiU with their games, but I think honestly they realise it's just not worth the effort for such little pay out. XB1 and PS4 is where the Watchdogs franchise will thrive this gen and it's important Ubi do all it can to make sure those versions are perfect. And delaying it further is not good either, come September XB1/PS4 are going to be bombarded with games.

They can always just move to a next gen console, and play a much better quality version of the game. Just a suggestion.

I find this kind suggestion a little insulting, or at least insensible and lacking of empathy. Gaming is expensive outside of US, a PS4 costs  660 U$ in my country, and the Xbox One does not even launch till september and will retail for around 750 U$, and the average salary is around 600 U$ a month.

Some people chose a Wii U not only because they like/love Nintendo games but also because of costs reasons, suggesting a person who made an effort to pay the 375 U$ entry price of the console, to "go buy another one" is tacky. Just put yourself on the shoes of others and you will see that getting the game even if it is a little late is a better option than not having the game at all.

Ok. Let's be realistic for 5 seconds. If money is truly that much of an issue for the average working person in your country, then they might be better off finding a different entertainment medium all together. No video game console is worth even half a month's pay, especially if one has other bills to pay. I know that sounds a bit harsh, but there are ore important things for someone to worry about. If you can afford it and still live comfortably, fine and dandy, but don't live beyond your boundaries. You might as well be throwing money away at that point.

On a side note, even if it is more expensive, PS4 would be a much better investment because you would be getting much more definitive versions with a more complete experience. Watch Dogs is only the beginning. Multiplats, as time goes on, will become far superior on PS4, while WiiU will always be stuck getting a version that either matches last gen or maybe slightly better. Depends on the developer.

it's not you who decides if it's a better investment for other people. as for the rest, it wasnt true before and won't be true in the future unless you want to count ps4 on the same boat of slightly better than ps360 versions.

I never said it was my decision. I simply gave a suggestion to those out there who don't feel like waiting for the watered down, content-lacking, Wii-U version.

Then don't invest in a PS4, but buy a PC if graphics matter that much to you.

Well they have a mostly finished WiiU game, at this point they can recover some costs by putting the WiiU version out in the wild, even if it is late.

There's a chance WiiU becomes the console-du-jour when you have MK8, Bayo 2, X and Smash out in roughly the same timeframe.  That could mean far more than just 1 million new folks  in the userbase. That could bode well for the Wii U version, better than if it were releasing alongside other versions IMO.

If the series gets popular and has legs, WiiU may be able to carve out it's own niche fanbase of the series.

If the Wii U didn't have releases later this year, they would have actually cancelled the game.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Smash is November onwards, from now to September~ it's only going to add another million users, no more than that.

Fact of the matter is, that audience is not on WiiU, the same as it wasn't on Wii.

third party sales on wii u range from really good to really bad, like in any other system. by pre orders alone, WD was already better than AC4 first week performance, and that's when it was still many months away from release. Watch dogs would have a good chance of selling well on wii u, it may still sell decently but nowhere near the numbers it would get if given a fair chance.

For reference, can you give an example of 'really good' third party sales on Wii U? Also, can you show us the WD vs AC4 preorder figures?

According to VGChartz, AC4 has only done 160k so far, and amounts to just over 1% of the total sales. If you're saying that WD would have done significantly more than that, and you have pre-order figures to prove it, let's see them.

Top 10 third party on WiiU:

Zombie U - 660k (bundled and from NPD I believe overtracked anyway)
Disney Infinity - 320k
Rayman Legends - 310k
Sonic & Sega All Stars - 310k
Just Dance 2014 - 270k
Skylanders Swapforce - 250k
Asassins Creed 3 - 240k
Just Dance 4 - 240k
COD Black Ops 2 - 230k
Lego Marvel Superheroes - 230k

Second Party WiiU games above 230k (Lego City Undercover - 770k, Monster Hunter Tri - 490k, Sega Mario Olympics - 340k)

Combined = 3.06m

Top 10 third party on XB1:

COD Ghosts - 1.67m
Titanfall - 1.35m
Battlefield 4 - 1.27m
Fifa Soccer - 840k (not sure if this includes or excludes the bundles in Europe)
AC Black Flag - 740k
NBA 2k14 - 540k
Madden NFL 25 - 530k
Need For Speed Rivals - 340k
Lego Marvel Superheroes - 310k
Theif - 250k

Second Party XB1 games above 250k (Dead Rising 990k, Ryse - 880k)

Combined = 7.84m

COD Ghosts - 2.08m
Fifa Soccer - 1.79m
Battlefield 4 - 1.71m
AC Black Flag - 1.53m
NFS Rivals - 850k
NBA 2K - 830k
Madden NFL 25 - 600k
MGS Ground Zeroes - 590k
Lego Marvel Superheroes - 460k
Thief - 400k

Combined = 10.84m

When you're talking about a franchise like Watchdogs, 300k on a platform is DIRE. And WiiU only has 1 third party game above that. It was exclusive and bundled, if Zombie U released on PS360 simultaneously and wasn't bundled with WiiU what do you think its figures would be?

Lego City Undercover is the only successful third/second party game on WiiU, again tho it's exclusive .. along with Monster Hunter (the added benefit of being popular in Japan as well).

320k is the highest a multiplatform game has done on WiiU.

XB1 and PS4 have several multiplatform games double that.

AC Black Flag, the closest thing you could compare people interested in Watchdogs too

WiiU - 240k
XB1 - 740k
PS4 - 1.53m

XB1 version is three times the WiiU version, PS4 version is a whopping 6 times the WiiU version. Also to take into account, the PS4/XB1 versions were competing more directly with the PS360 versions. (as many who bought PS4 and XB1 had a 360 or PS3).

To end, any talk of Watchdogs selling really well on WiiU, is backed up by nothing but hope. There are no figures, facts, reason or common sense applied to that idea. Thus it is and should be an afterthought for Ubisoft, they need to go where the money is, and that is PS360, XB1, PS4 and PC. Where they can establish the franchise into a multi million seller.

Perfect business sense. End of discussion.

acording to vg chartz us preorders. WD for wii u has 27k and AC4 had a 23k first week on US. the 160k for AC4 is already good for profiting and watch dogs had much better chances of selling very well.

really good third party sales? lego city, zombi u, monster hunter tri, rayman legends, sonic and sega all stars racing transformed, resident evil revelations, just dance series, skylanders series, lego series. AC3 and batman arkham city got an ok ltd so far and should be surpassed by their sequels.
