You're completely backwards on that.  Wii Sports is what sold the concept of the Wii's motion controls.  

In 5 months sure it (K8) has it's chances of hitting 2 million or better, but a price drop on the Wii U can guarantee it far quicker imho.

IMHO if they don't price drop the Wii U in 2 months time to 199.99-229.99 with pack in or ins, then the 8th gens PS4s momentum will have snowballed to a point where the Wii U is on a level with the Ouya, as far as mainstream gamer relevency is concerned.

You might think I'm crazy, but I looked on Amazon today and the Wii U Deluxe with SL+SMBWU is basically 300.00 with shipping. Add on the slim pickings in titles this year, and I have know idea why anyone would want a system starved and emaciated for 3rd party titles. Look at it this way, all games this year (DKCTF,MK8,SSBU,Bayonetta 2, and X) are all Nintendo funded titles. Where did 3rd party support go to? Yeah there's other games scheduled but lets be real here and acknowledge those titles will be unbelievably lucky to sell 1 mil lifetime let alone half of that, even Watch Dogs if that even comes out for the Wii U this year. (That game should do it though, but name 1 more??) It's not my intention to put down the Wii U, it is what it is. Slow title development +almost no 3rd party support. They have to speed things up and the only way to do it is to 1. not give a shit or 2. Entice people with price, and entice 3rd partys to port titles, but do they even care over at Nintendo? See I don't think they do, and therefore I will be getting a PS4 by summer unless something entices me otherwise ;)

I'm not gonna lie. I was extremely disappointed with that Nintendo Direct. They made it seem like they were going to unveil a plethora of new characters, but all we really got was one actually new character, an old expected one, and 3 that were technically in the previous title, but made their own instead of transformations. The MP news was nothing special, though I'm sure the online will function a lot better this time around than it did in Brawl. Not to mention Nintendo pretty much shat all over the Wii-U by announcing the 3DS version will not only be coming out almost half a year earlier, but will receive an exclusive online mode as well (one that actually sounds pretty good at that). They could make it up by announcing more characters for the Wii-U version, but that would just alienate the 3DS user base and make the overall situation worse, so I don't see the Wii-U version pushing hardware sales all that much. This is almost as bad as their VGX surprise...

Plus, do we really need yet another Pokemon?

Even as a Wii-U owner, I still have no desire to get this game. 

Firstly how do you compare which one moves WiiU's?? One releases in May and the other at Christmas.
Secondly I believe your overestimating their selling potential, I believe software wise they will sell great for the hardware sold but I dont believe they will have much of a push on WiiU sales and the Vita will have a better 2014.

I would have agreed with you before they announced that SSB 3DS is coming first. But now they're going to let everyone get their fix half a year ahead of time, and there won't be much hype left when the Wii U version comes out. They took what was arguably the biggest system seller the Wii U had and just shit on it, seemingly on purpose.

I think people misinterpret the success of MK and SSB. I don't think people buy consoles for those games, rather they buy it because they already have the console. Look at MK Wii and MK DS. They coincided with the respective launch of the consoles when there was still high demand for it. They got it to have something to play for the console they would've bought regardless.

WiiU is apparently not something the casuals are running to get. MK7 is probably a better example of the real appeal of the series.
Yes, it will probably get a boost but that won't last for long and it will certainly sell well throughout the gen but I don't think it's because people get the console just to play it but that they're 2 of the few games that you kinda have to own because there isn't much like it.

Yep, most likely these games will go back to pre-Wii level sales, 7-10 million for Mario Kart and 5-7 million for Smash Bros.
