Forums - Sales - can wii u ever pass vita?!

So worth it to buy a $200 piece of hardware to keep tabs on another one worth $400. PSVita is better than 4 as of now though.

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

It will never pass it if Sony releases a PS4/Vita bundle this holiday or earlier

Most things point to announcement at E3, so this could become a reality.

That makes the PS4 a $600 version of what the WiiU does more or less.

Could be a good thing for "second-screen" gaming though if it takes off. Maybe the effects rub off onto the Wii U. But I don't see that happening.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Even if it did, it wouldn't matter because they don't compete (handheld/home consoles).

U keep saying this and I keep calling you out on it, how dont they compete? Since u repeatedly ignore answering this, im assuming ur basing it on nothing.

I have answered this many times along with everyone else with basic common sense in these forums. You obviously just keep missing it.

Who thinks MK will push WiiU above PS4?

Yeah I never saw anyone make that  crazy of a prediction before here or anywhere else.

Off the top of my head i can name 3 users who have had such a predictions, and not just 2 years ago when stuff like that was more acceptable, but very recent as well, ninetailschris, Zero999 and DevilRising have said this.

I think it can, unless Sony does a 180 and announces loads of new titles with mass appeal.

Sadly i dont see that happening. Vita is a great piece of hardware but it has a niche market of japanese games and indies. Even though those Tales of and Phantasy Stars are nowhere to be seen. -.-

The Wii U is getting several high profile games this year, added to the ones it got last year and those that are upcoming. It definitly has a brighter future than the Vita, despite all the constant doom talks.

Maybe but considering this is pretty much the same thing people have been saying all of 2013 and Wii U still gets beat regularly by Vita in the charts Im going to remain skeptical.

According to this site they sold basically the same amount last year with Wii U slightly ahead, it doesnt matter that Vita outsells it on a typical week if Wii U is able to soundly beat it over the holidays.

Probably a few weeks this year.

It depends on how much soundly: between 23 Nov and 28 Dec 2014 Wii U was able to beat PSV by ~490k, then, since the beginning of January, PSV started beating it almost every week by between a few k and a few tens k. At this pace, admitting the yearly balance even be in Wii U's favour, it will take years to fill the gap. Gap that at the end of Dec 2013 Wii U managed to shrink to less than 1.9M and now is already above 2M and slowly crawling up.

Well, I'm pretty sure the vita tends to sell more weekly and it got a 9 month head start, so I think you can do the math.

Go back and look even further. At the end of 2012 Vita had a 1.9m lead and outsold Wii U most weeks in 2013. Wii U had a better holiday and was able to erase the lead Vita accumilated over the non holiday months bringing the gap back to 1.9m. The same is likely to happen year, Vita winning most weeks due to solid sales in Japan with Wii U having a better holiday.
