They should build further upon these aspects, iron out some flaws and adapt it, control-scheme-wise, to the Gamepad. I think an analogue way to control the sword is better and more intuitive than buttons. Ideally, I hope the game will prompt the player to either use Wiimote/Nunchuck motion control like Skyward Sword, or use the Gamepad where the second stick controls the motions of the sword. |
Yeah that right stick combat was my first thought when I saw Metal Gear Rising and while the end product was good it wasnt as cool as I had hoped

Haven't played MGR, didn't know something similar was in there. Yeesh, I thought I was being original

Anyway, so I admit I don't exactly know how it would work, but at a glance I think it's the only way they could retain the feeling of the combat of Skyward Sword. Which I liked, but like I said needs a bit of evolving. Enemies needed to be better at defence as their movement patterns were simple enough to quickly become too predictable, being able to counter-attack and they needed to be a bit more agressive when they decide to fight you. In short, they could use a smarter and more 'realistic' (for the lack of a better word) AI. I want enemies to use cheap tricks every once in a while, these monsters are fighting for their lives
.
A sure obvious downside of using the second stick for combat though would be that you can't use the second stick for simple camera control. Personally I don't think that would be a huge loss, never really needed it in a Zelda game before.
