Many wonder why Microsoft bought Nokia, but it is very simple Nokia is ideal for creating a new Ngage with W8/9 OS as flagship.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Taco Talk Revisited. I had a Nokia N-Gage QD neat looking device, but that was about it.

I think Microsoft as a whole is smart enough to not go down the dedicated handheld route. It will only end in being buried by Nintendo, or have a small piece of the shrinking handheld market.

Joke thread obviously. MS bought Nokia because if they hadn't Windows Phone OS would have utterly failed by now.

MS bought Nokia because they needed them, not to create a niche gaming mobile :P They have a strong hold on the PC market, a decent grip on the living room and a comparatively tiny portion of the mobile market (arguably the biggest of three right now, at least in terms of revenue). Buying Nokia secures them a valuable brand to help them push their OS forwards in that area.

I actually quite like Windows 8 on mobile, so i hope they can find more success than they currently have. I do hope they stop pretending the metro design isn't completely awful for PC though ¬_¬ If W9 follows this same theme i'll end up stuck on 7 for ages.

SHOCKING!  Just SHOCKING!
Obviously, MS don't need to buy Nokia to make a gaming-focused phone, they can do that with any partner, or buy some small OEM like NEC.
Adding dedicated buttons/controls to a phone is hardly rocket science.

Especially after the monumental success of the Ngage right?
