Forums - Microsoft - Nokia buyout results in potential Xgage

I personally can't wait for the return of Edge Talk

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft makes an N-Gage 2 or X-Gage with Nokia. The beauty of it is that if they use Windows Phone for the OS it would be compatible with the entire Windows Phone game lineup, as well any exclusives made for the system, giving them a leg up on a game library.

Why would they drop WP OS to make a game-focused phone?  Under any scenario, that's what they would be doing.
So the reason to spend billions on Nokia is to slap the name "N-Gage 2" on the same thing they would otherwise make?
Maybe my definition of "beauty" is something different than "utterly mundane, ordinary, predictable, most likely realistic scenario".

As others have written, N-Gage was never any sort of a success to motivate naming something "N-Gage 2"...
...EVEN if Nokia was never bought out by MS and was doing it themself, so I doubt MS will now do so even if they can.

Can people really be so fan-boy that they get excited about a hypothetical name of an unannounced product that may not even exist?
Please check out my E-bay site, I'm selling pre-orders for "DA AWESOMEZ" by "YOUR FAVORITE COMPANY".

Many of Microsoft's investors don't even like being in the home console business, I'd like to see how they would react to them trying to breach the dwindling handheld market this late in the game.

Hmmm. Could be right. WP has some good exclusives already. Better than Iphone exclusives imo. They feel more like actual games. Tenticles was really smoth and nothing on phone beats Spartan Assault for me. Anyway, yeah Xgage could work if done right. Halo 3 on Xcage coulld well be a killer gaming app for phones..

would be kind of pointless. The hardcore handheld market is tiny and the casual handheld market is dominated by nintendo.

As far as money making is concerned, MS are in a better position. they dont even need need a large chunk of the mobile OS market until WP turns out to make more money than the 3ds and vita combined... but then again, if their WP policies are anything like XB, they wont stand a chance against google or apple. If they had a parity policy, WP would probably die over night.

and yet another one...

for the gazillion time there isn't and never was many investors against the XBox brand we can count them on hand missing 3 fingers... they have been two to explicetly voice it and they represent less than 2% ownership..... and to be fair they are anything but solid serious long term investors... ValueAct is cash grabber that would be more happy with patent trolling than actually doing any real business.... most of the big investor either said nothing about XB evere or actually support it because they can see the long term potential of such endevour for a multi market company like Ms especially with a shrinking mainstream PC market....

Yeah... Not going to happen.
