You say 'value' and 'sold through' are the same thing but then turn around and say its impossible to quantify value among individuals. Well its not impossible to quantify the sales of individuals, in fact, its one of the main pruposes of this site. Sounds kind of conflicting but yeah, sure thing. Whatever reason you want to give to PS4 being the top selling hardware is a reason you believe in. I'm not going against that. I'm simply stating value and top selling are not the same thing.

Personally I think PS4 is the top selling because of how well Sony marketed the PS4 and how bad MS messed up in their marketing department.

Actually they are ... Defining value's through monetary lenses have little meaning to the term "value". However it is the market that decides what's more valuable in general and that in turn truly defines the meaning of "value". What the market thinks is more important than the price tag itself.

Ok. I'm not arguing importance. I'm simply stating that 'sales' and 'value' are not the same thing. Just because something sold more than another thing does not make it more valuable in the eyes of the consumer. You can generalize all you want but your going to get very mixed results.

Actually when PS4 is bundled with a game then it's $450 or less so a proper apples to apples comparison with game included means they are the same price or PS4 is cheaper. The kinect makes the difference and it's a selling pojnt to those who think it's a worthy feature. So it will be interesting to see how many people see enough value in Kinect and a weaker console to put xb one in a clear lead on an ongoing basis.

It misses the point that power is a greater influencing factor than a camera to most consumers, and that without PS+ you get free access to more content and with PS+ you still get more content in the form of games.

The article doesnt paint the entire picture. Whats next... they try and sell you on a weaker, more expensive car because it comes with an extra tyre and racing seats?

add-ons hardly matter when the specifications of the main hardware dont match.

Value wise it is a better value there is no denying that when you look at the deals. Of course it boils down to opinion and what someone wants. But as far as the value/cost goes if you were to put the PS4 next to this XB1 deal then it is better. No need to argue about it or bring up the past when the PS3 had the better value/cost because it was also true for the PS4 back then.

Just because this isn't making the XB1 SELL better than the PS4, it DOES NOT mean that it is an incorrect statement...geez some defensive folks around here lol....and this is coming from a Sony fan lol.

I wouldn't have bothered personally. I've been reading this thread from the sidelines and it's both sad and hilarious. It's like they can't even give an inch with anything and have a dying need to convince others (also, possibly themselves without knowing) that there plastic box is better then everyone else's.

Just grab the popcorn and watch.

Isn't PS4 bundled with a month free of PS+? You get a game free..... for a month.

Its all a matter of opinion. They would have to pay me to get a kinect paper weight.

Until we have an official price cut, the price is still 500 though. temporary discounts only say that some stores are desperate to clear inventory. The bundle is nice for those interested, but otherwise isnt that big of a change.

That's where your totally wrong ... The sales show customers and it is customers in the end that determine the worth of a product. If value were neither defined by the market or consumers then the term "value" has no meaning. Simple as that.

"Importance" has little to do with value. It is "consumers" that determine value and nothing else. There's nothing you can do to change that.

I bought an Xbox One and a PS4. I spent $650 on the Xbox One and $540 on the PS4. According to your logic I, as a consumer, value them both the same since I bought one of each. Or you could say that since I spent $110 more on Xbox One I automatically 'value' the Xbox One more, right? Wrong! I'd take the PS4 over Xbox One. Both got a sale from me and the one I spent less on is the one I value more. Totally goes against your logic of "because it got a sale it is more valuable than the next gadget".

I buy more American chocolate bars than I do belgium chocolate so I guess I automatically value American chocolate bars...even though I don't. I'm sorry I don't get your logic.

There are only 2 places in the universe where mathematics breaks down:
In the event horizon of a black hole and
when comparing the value proposition of consoles

obviously the latter is more relevant, and unfortunately harder to figure out.

Except it is a collection of consumers that determine the value of the said product, not just one person.

Price has nothing to do with value.
