Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

This past gen both Fallout 3 and Skyrim did so for me, as well as COD4 when it initially launched. Also Mario Galaxy was probably the most impressive Ninty offering of the past gen.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Last week, with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

For all the negative press the game got, when I played it the gameplay just blew me away and I just couldn't stop playing to find all the secrets and get a better rank with each of the missions.

Yup, this.

Before that would have been Persona 4: Golden. It doesn't happen often.

The last five games that blew me away are:

1. The Last of Us

2. Spec Ops: The Line

3.Red Dead Redempation

4.Batman: Arkham City

5. Killzone 2

Yeah, these special releases are quite sparse for me. Besides, there are many other games I could list but it would end being long and dragged on.

Xenoblade Chronicles.

I heard from all over the internet that it was one of the best games people had ever played. I thought 'It couldn't be that good'

Then I tried it. Holy crap, the game was amazing.

The most recent example for me is Dragon's Dogma.

Considering Capcom was behind it, I didn't expect it to be anything great, but rather good.

Sure the backtracking can be annoying at times, but everythin else blew me away. Especially the ending. Much more brilliant than, for example, Bioshock: Infinite.

I actually really like parts of the game, but this is one major issue that kills most of the enjoyment of the game for me.  Even if you play Dark Arisen and can teleport an infinite amount of times, which is a pretty bs move on Capcom's part requiring you to have save data from the original game, the backtracking is just way too much, but it's so much worse in the original without that infinite teleportation from the stone that I forgot what it's called which is why I'm using generic terms.

The wonderful 101 this game in my eyes is utter perfection.

Ferrystones and Portcrystals.

The game could have used a "click & go" teleportation system indeed. But honestly, I didn't mind the backtracking to a certain extent.

EDIT: And I played the vanilla game, meaning I only had one single Portcrystal throughout a whole walktrhough.
