Very few games blow me away.  It either has to be some kind of incredible scale that I wasn't expecting; or some kind of alien feeling to the game that I've never felt before.  To illustrate with examples:

Final Fantasy VII (when you finally exit Midgar and realise there's a whole bloody world out there)

This was easily the most a game has ever blown me away. I was clueless about Final Fantasy and JRPGs in general, so it was a huge surprise for me.

Journey.
The game blew me away, I loved it. Was such a fantastic experience despite the length.

The most recent game was Dark Souls. Played it for the first time last year. After ringing the first bell, the size and openness of the world started to sink in.

Before that, I'd say Xenoblade. The main thing these games have in common is that I didn't know very much about them going in. For instance, it's hard for a Zelda game to greatly surpass my expectations because I generally know exactly what to expect.

Saints Row 4. Stick of Truth would have reached this status if it lasted longer :(

ZombiU: After the bad reviews I didn´t expect much but it turned out to be one of my all time favourites.

OOT. There hasn't been a game that's revolutionized gaming to that extant since.

The Last Of Us.

Yup!

Last one to do it? Hmm I'd say Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for the simple fact that ALTTP was always my favorite LOZ game in the series and this game just did everything right and improved on just about everything from ALTTP.

Actually it was the game i finished yesterday. Metal Gear Solid 4.

Boring in the first 3 chapters, but the rest... wow. Things you dont see on any other game. Nostalgia played to perfection, innovations like a cut-scene and gameplay happening side by side. It really showed the power of the PS3.
