Well that sucks.

No bothers at all mate, I love gaming and hate hearing about a console getting damaged. Had a psp break on me once, heart breaking considering a lot of the saves on that were locked to the psp that made them, that hurt.

Should have put it in rice.

Yeah kinda figured :D But aye, it's great advice for anything electric like phones/cameras gaming things that get wet, if possible remove the battery right away and put it into uncooked (dry not pudding lol) Rice in an airing closet.

The probably started when you turned it on... You should have ensured it was fully dried before.

True, but I only read that afterwards. Never had an electronic device break on me before. Well, not entirely true, my touchscreen on my cellphone broke once, but that was covered in the warranty. 

After ten hours in the rice I tried to turn it back on, but went out shortly afterwards. To the store it is, hope it's not too expensive. 

Put it in a big bag of rice for a week. Someone's missus on Gaf accidentally put his 3DS (which was in sleep mode) through the washing machine. He put it in rice for 3 days and then turned it on. It worked but there was still liquid inside the screen. He then put it in for another couple of days and the screen was almost perfect, just a small part of the screen was a little bit off - about the size of a few mm square. The 3D even worked.

Nintendium still lives.

Edit: Putting it in rice for a few hours is nowhere near long enough. It needs to DAYS or as much as a week depending on how wet it got.

Time to break out the hairdryer.
