This is a war site..... neogaf may be calmer for you?

Mabey some people need to act like they've got a pair.   Sack up, quit being a pussy, and tell whoever is flaming you to F off.

Are you the kind of person that would prefer we all sit in a peace circle, get in a lotus position, etc?

My advice for dealing with flame threads is to either report them & move on, as you suggested, or simply confront the OP directly in his own thread. I prefer the latter method. If you believe the person is truly flamebaiting, then you should be able to clearly and persuasively articulate this point in his thread. If you cannot put forth a decent argument that the OP really is trolling, then perhaps he isn't trolling and maybe you are butthurt. Indeed, this method will cause you to think about whether your disdain towards certain threads are founded in reason or biased emotion.

It's best to do this as peacefully as possible, so as to not be moderated yourself. Again, if you are right the OP is flaming, then you should be able to illustrate this point without breaking any rules. I find that this method can be effective discouragement to the OP as he will know that future acts of flaming will be called out immediately for all to see. Eventually the user will get tired of being publicly called out and hopefully the frequency of flaming will decrease and/or eventually the mods notice and step in.

That is probably a bad idea since the thread will keep getting bumped up and more people will get involved. I understand what you mean, but not only would it be time consuming as theres no garantee the person will listen. Theres examples of that on this same thread.

No, that's the right thing to do, because it creates personal drama. If a thread is truly flamebait/stealthtrolling/whatever, then it will get bumped a lot anyway, so that's of no concern. Also, it doesn't really matter if that person will listen. What matters is that the moderators and community see it. And in that sense, it's equally valuable if someone is rightly or wrongly attacked for their OP. In either case we'll learn something.

And what will we learn?

im the kind of person that hates weapons...but loves fighting.

i think weapons should be eliminated, but i love violence, and its the only way to solve certain problems

does it make any sense to you?

I promise you that even without points I would still post flamebait threads. Possibly even more, because then I'd shoot up in the new points "post count"...and then if you removed post count, the new points would be "threads on the hot topics list"....then if you removed that, it would be top threads in every forum.

SO you see, there is no way around it. You will be flamebaited, and you will accept it.

No refunds.

remember the good old days when this site was awesome?

...yep, filled with flamebait and joke threads. rolstoppable's hilarity is why i set roots here instead of just pass on through. just sayin'.

Its not only vgchartz, its gaming forums in general.

I am the only one who isn't bothered by the so-called " flamebait" threads? They ALWAYS existed. I bet 2007 VGChartz was full of them. That's what happens when a generation begins. It's nothing new or shocking.
