Forums - Nintendo - So, a top down view Zelda for Wii U instead of a full 3D adventure?

Top-down Zelda for Wii U

I'll love Skyward Sword! 37 32.46%

I'll soar away! 30 26.32%

Is that the N64 OoT commercial? 24 21.05%

Zelda should be gore 23 20.18%

Total:114

A fully 3d game would have dumbed down graphics, wouldn't be worth playing. Wait to have 3d zelda next gen, when it can be done in an awesome way!

I wouldn't mind a 2D game if it was HUGE and introduced a lot of new stuff. Actually that would be pretty great. A 1080p 60fps 2D Zelda With a world 5 times as big as Link to The Past, with lots of elements from ALBW, and a ton of new elements. Your telling me you wouldn't buy that? I sure would.

3D or 2D I will be appeased.

i'd rage - I want my 3d zelda

It's not happening. Bye.

Old-school gamers, like me, would prefer a 2D Top Down Zelda game more than a 3D Zelda. The new-school gamers would probably want a 3D Zelda.

Modern Nintendo is indeed stupid and suicidal enough to do this.

Hell, pretty much all their Wii U games so far are HD reiterations of 3DS and Wii games, so going from Link Between Worlds to Link Between Universes like they did from 3D Land to 3D World wouldn't surprise me.

I would still buy it, and I'm sure it would still be an incredible game, but like most of their decisions over the last three years, it would commercially moronic.

I can actually see quite a few elements from Pikmin working in Zelda. Top down view in the game pad to help with navigation and mazes, quick travel etc. Maybe they even give you a second character to control and dual character quests.

I would totally buy an HD, hand-drawn/sprite based top-down Zelda as a digital title for eShop on Wii U. Especially if it was a remake of my fav. Zelda of all-time: Link's Awakening. That would make my heart sing with joy.

But for a major Wii U Zelda, I do still kinda want it to be 3D. Personally, I usually prefer 2D over 3D, but I love Twilight Princess, and I'd really love to see them actually top that.

Let's just remind that Nintendo is all over the 2D lately:
A Link Between Worlds
New Super Mario Bros 2
New Super Mario Bros U
Kirby 3DS
DKC Tropical Freeze
Yoshi New Island
Yoshi's Yarn (sidescroller platformer)
Super Mario 3D Land
Super Mario 3D World (both of these feels like SMB3 in a 3D space)

A lot of elements from past iterations.
