Forums - Gaming - Will MGS: Ground Zero destroy it's series as bad as Ninja Gaiden 3 did to it's franchise?

How did I know this was going to be a Spurge thread before I clicked on it...

I personally never got the whole buzz with MGS. Seems like it was great back in the PS1/PS2 era. Hell MGS4 is regarded very well. But I just think some mechanics are very dated and there are better stealth games out there.

Think people like it for the wacky japanese story?

Nope, I clicked on the thread from the main page, it doesn't tell you the author there.

No it won't, this is not even the first time Kojima sells a demo it already happened with Policenauts: Pilot Disk

No it will not. Basically everyone knows it's just a cash-in before the main game and I doubt a lot of people take it very seriously.

It doesn't read on the site front page.

We are really seeing a troubling distortion of the review process.

If reviewers are going to be so up in arms with this then every fallout game, ME, Dragon Age, elder scrolls should rake in 95+ for bang for the buck.

Any game with online focus and decent gameplay should score 95+ as the game can live for months if not years.

I dont think anyone dragging down the review scores based on a price to time ratio has articulated the point well enough to warrant any real concern but its an easy headline to fixate on and its a slippery slope.

Once there is public perception these "review" sights latch on to drive a narrative. In one breath theyre criticizing the games length and price point and then divulge when played in its entirety IE side missions, stealth vs rambo mode, obtaining better ranks the game eats up 8+ hours but ohhhhh the headlines, too juicy to pass up.

Most people don't think it's bad, they're just angry it's short.

give it a rest. GZ is a rushed demo for MGS fans. It doesn't matter. The only reason they didn't give it away for free is because Konami needed to pay for the fox engine.
