Forums - Sony - Sony reveals their game parity clause.

He is very smart.
He knows people will not be able to identify the 8 consoles written in invisible ink if he takes a picture of it.

Great news. I heard releasing games on bullet points is the future.

What?

Oops. I read it wrong. Screw Sony for not allowing devs to release their games on bullet points!

Fucking Sony acting childish again! Taking shots at MS when it's completely unnecessary!

!!!

Some Indie dev may see it as necessary they've made it clear they don't like the parity clause. If nobody says anything and just accepts it then MS has no reason to change anything. As we've seen already a big enough reaction from the fans will get MS to change thier policies.

Was being sarcastic

Intel Core i7 3770K [3.5GHz]|MSI Big Bang Z77 Mpower|Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 2 x 4GB|MSI GeForce GTX 560 ti Twin Frozr 2|OCZ Vertex 4 128GB|Corsair HX750|Cooler Master CM 690II Advanced|

The list is so big it has begun to form it's own gravitational field with miniature black holes begining to appear.

Microsoft have been operating this way for a long time, putting pressure on developers with a simultaneous release and content parity clause. Annoying as one of the strengths of the ps3 over 360 was the storage capacity of blu-ray discs. Many games could have been enhanced on ps3 but weren't probably due to this Microsoft clause. Microsoft may allow games at their discretion. The reality seemed to be major games may get through with PS3 enhancements but not lesser games.

You only have to look at the size of ps3 games to see the issue. The minimum capacity is 25GB (50GB for dual layer) yet most ps3 games are only about 8-9GB same as xbox 360 discs. In many games a huge amount of additional content could have been put on the ps3 disc. Multiplayer maps or whatever. Also the PS3 has the capacity to show much enhanced pre-rendered movie sequences far superior to the 360 engine generated sequences but this is lacking in most games and really something all ps3 games should have.

There may come a time this generation where Microsoft are desperate for every game they can get and these rules will impact their success. Ultimately the ps4 is already hugely ahead just after launch and is clearly going to be the major format this generation. So many developers may decide not to develop for xbox one if Microsoft make it difficult for them.

Except there was never a clause about content... It was only about launching at the same time or before the ps3 version...and it only had to do with indie games, not retail games... So pretty much everything you said is wrong...

IIRC, though, last gen MS charged 3rd parties extra royalties if their games took more than 2 DVDs. So, in XB360/PS3 multiplats, the only option without extra costs was to natively fit the contents to at most 2DVDs space, the other two alternatives implied extra costs, using the same larger contents fit to BD and using more than 2 DVDs on XB360 would cost an extra royalty, while developing two different sized sets of contents, one fitting BD, and the other squeezed into at most 2DVDs wouldn't cost extra royalties but extra dev costs and time.

OT: Wouldnt this be bad for Sony. "Oh I can release late on PS but not on XB so Ill work on XB first since Sony will let me"

That would be my thought

This would be true if there were just Ninty, PS and XB platforms. But actually, there are far more, and for indies, especially the smallest ones and the startups, PC, Android and Steam are the cheapest platforms to start developing on, with the two former being the largest in the world, but general purpose and with relatively small minorities playing any other games but free ones, and the latter smaller, but totally dedicated to gaming and thriving in its field, so Sony can't ignore their existence, chances are an indie startup will publish its games on at least one of them asap, so a MS-like policy would exclude them from PS.

I believe Microsoft will change their policy soon enough, they can't let so many games outside their buisness. And even if he wasn't mean, this kind of troll will make sony look like arrogant, so they should better stop it in my opinion. People like it when you are in the challenger's position, but as leader much less xD

99.9% of gamers wont see any comment made by any of these people and wont know who they are if they see their names.
