Forums - Gaming - I'm not buying another console.

I'm not buying another console unless it has "Nintendo" stamped on it.

I love the 3rd party games out there, but I won't buy another console to play them. Why? Fuck you, that's why.

Nintendo content is superb and well beyond the quality and games-craftsmanship of anyone else. I will always continue to buy their hardware so I can play their software.

3rd parties are largely about fucking the consumer and robbing us blind with a continued downward spiral of the valuation of our products. i.e. they keep offering you less and less while increasing the price, individuall and overall.

This DLC image above is a perfect example of what happens when you're only focus is on short-term gains. Nintendo doesn't do this and likely never will. Its anti-consumer and focuses on giving the consumer a lower end product while increasing the price. Additionally, it ruins the IP.

I also refuse to pay for online access. There is no reason for it. PC has lived for decades on free online play for its games AND the games tend to cost less. It is merely another way greedy corps are fucking us.

While the rest of you all have your lubed up asses, I'm sticking with Nintendo and its policy of hugs and high-fives.

So to 3rd parties (that don't put quality on Nintendo hardware) and MSony, I say rot in hell.

Good for you. Your money, spend it how and when you want.

That said, you don't have to shout it from the rooftops in such a crass and abrasive way. Just do it, and let the rest of us enjoy our quality products in peace.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Who are you trying to impress with this? Wanna look opinionated at parties as your friends all nod appreciatively at you? Because if you are doing this for yourself, then chances are you are going to miss out on a lot of games you want to play, just because you don't like where the industry is heading. Boo hoo.

Hint: Wait a year or 2 later when they release the "Ultimate Edition" with all DLC included.
Fun Fact: Video games are among the most depreciating products in the known world. Whats $60 with $30 DLC day 1 becomes $30 with all DLC in a couple years. Learn to wait.

Ironically that is true for all games but the "Oh so consumer friendly"-Nintendo games, seriously releasing a HD remake of a 10 year old game that took you 6 months to make for $50 can be classified as nothing but greedy.

OT: Cry me a river. Then don't buy them, why should we care? I'll probably never buy a MS console and I'm not going around making threads, letting people know about this immensely important decision of mine.

Exactly. Most publishers charge $40 for HD remakes, and they usually contain multiple games. Nintendo charges $50 for just Wind Waker, they should have added Twilight Princess and reduced the price to $40.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

That's the reason why Nintendo do what they want, because their fans accept everything no matter what. No new ips, outdated hardware for price of gold, region lock. Anyway, enjoy your console and the same franchises over and over...

Hardware is not outdated.

Gameplay is superior to number of pixels and I enjoyed SD games on my Wii FAR more than anything I had on my PS3. Zack & Wiki (capcom) was a better game than almost anything I had on my PS3 and that was a Capcom game. But it had a great amount of entertainment.

SMBW blows away anything on PS4/Xbone right now. Just as numerous reviewers stated it was the best game out this holiday. Who cares if it was 1080p or not. The game was simply far better.

Wii U lacks identity, proper price to value ratio, and has only very rarely properly utilized the gamepad. Had gamepad been utilized in the same fashion as Wii Sports to wiimote or Wii Fit to balance board, it would be decimating the others. But its not and most don't see its appeal.

You don't get value proposition do you?

Honda's keep their value FAR better than any other. Yet you wouldn't say they are anti-consumer.

Fact is Nintendo builds teh best game content that over time is STILL WORTH THE ORIGINAL PRICE to consumers.

3rd parties simply don't make that type of game. If they did, then they would keep the price up as well. A company drops price when it feels the value is not longer there and consumer purchasing proves that.

This is why Wii U is selling like crap as the mass consumer doesn't see the value in it at $300 because the mostly see "wii" and that's a $100 hardware. But Zelda Twilight Princess was still $50 (full price) five years after it released because Zelda games retain high value.

Nintendo doesn't make that type of game, either. It's not that their software still flies off of the shelves years later at full price. With very few exceptions, it doesn't. It's just that they are not willing to devalue their software by training their consumers to wait a month to buy their games at 1/3 of the original price. Which is not difficult to understand, because they are a very conservative corporation and gaming is all they do.

I absolutely agree. When Nintendo launched the 3DS at $250, I thought, "this company doesn't care about money, they only care about the consumer."

I think I shall join with you in this pact! The games themselves aren't really that important.

I never said Nintendo doesn't strive to make money; it just does so by delivering honest value.

But had 3DS had quality game content, it would have sold hand over fist at $250, just as the XL does now at $200. 3DS at launch simply wasn't worth that price and thankfully had the margin to lower its price to create the proper value to price ratio.

Wii U can't.

Their greatness is opinion nothing more, i for one see then as a good dev not great.  They dont make the type of games i want and other then one or two gems a gen if im lucky thus to me and much of gamers they are nothign special.  Im playing fundementally the same Mario on U i played decades ago.  I fail to see any greatness in rehashing same things over and over.

Um wiis hardware was barely an upgraded selling at a permium was not as you said  "fucking the consumer and robbing us blind"  Everythign about the wii was short term gains, it didnt even last a full gen like its competitior did.   Its  game play mechanincs did not transfer to its succesor console.  It was  half gen money grab.

If 50 is to much for you for a year and dozens of free games then nothing will change your mind, unless Ninty does it tommorow then youll champion it.

Given how wiiu is one of the worse consoles in gaming, id say your lubed up good championing nintendo.

Cant put same quality on hardware a gen older then its comp, its just not feasable.  It be liek me crying toyota didnt put a race spec V8 liek they did their Lmans car.  You chose old outdated hardware, you live with its shortcoming without crying wolf.

Wii offered completely new gameplay over the gamecube (or anyone else) and provided me with a full gen's (5years) worth of entertainment.

Wii U offers completely new gameplay over the Wii (and others such as ZombiU/NintendoLand) and is providing me with great entertainment. It even allows me to continue my excitement from Wii 100% backwards compatibility.

All the while both don't require recurring fees outside of buying a new game. No monthly fees just to play with friends, compare stats, watch netflix, etc.

Nintendo is the only one focusing on what is best for consumer. You're just focused on hardware tech race.

Its only a fact wii lasted half the time its competition did.

You must have a special Wiiu cause i have it and it offer nothing new other then a weird controller.

No need for Plus to watch netflix, also id rather pay 50 get hundreths of dollar worth of free games and get good online comapred to the gymped Nintendo one.   It took hours of screwing with settings just to get the WiiU online due to nintendos online incompetetance and wifi not working.

You are focused on a limited variety of gaming nintendo does, its cool for you but most want more want better and will not limit them selfs to what nintendo thinks we should be playing.

chunk, just curious, what prompted you to make this thread today?...any recent events that set it off?

So the common fact of "Nintendo games have legs" is imaginary? They sell at full price for the life of the console. Sure at lower numbers as time goes on, but that is solely due to the potential market for that game reaching its max.

If you're willing to give up playing so many great games over something so petty, then it's your loss.

1) all three last gen are still in NA stores

2) wii will still end as highest sold console, even though others sold at a far better rate over last few years

3) nintendo online is not that different. I'd say video streaming is meh, you can chat and play the same, miiverse adds a lot, video chat would be nice, can pause and hit internet same, wiiu browser is best, ... i'm sure i'm missing something... and idk what you did but my online for wiiu and others i know personally was up instantly without issue. ... oh i did forget download time through eshop, that can suck and i think its totally related to your location to one of their servers for eshop as my experience definitely is not universal.
