Don't think so, I remember that Nintendo fans were using incorrect data when DS "supposedly" outsold the PS2, so it will definitely not outship the 104.25 from VGChartz.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!
No. I thought this would be a bumped thread from 2 years back.
You've seen the shipments lately right????
Wii shipped 600k over the holiday quarter.
Down YOY 65%.
Staggering in two regards that at end of 2011 was only ~10 million behind which is a blistering rate and then how fast and hard it has fallen 2012-2014 to not yet close the gap.

Never.
And 102.49m is the right number... Sony didn't produced any unit more than that.

I did not know that. Thanks for this.
Based on this information, it's fair to say that only the US will receive stock in Q4 and that may soon be discontinued there after that. Whatever stock we see shipped to JP and EU in Q4 when Nintendo reports are just left overs that were already in transit.
Based on that, the assumption of 400K shipped for Q4, 60% YOY drop for the next 3 years, and 3 FYs left for the Wii are overly optmistic and, ultimately, unrealistic.

Wii U needs all the sales it can get. Wii could be hurting it just a bit. Although not much, as we have seen from Weekly Wii sales. Might not even be a factor. One more Holiday would be nice, and then a full on discontinue announcement at E-3 2015. |
Wii has hit the $99/EU99 price point already. $79 wouldn't move that many more units, to be honest and would just cost Nintendo money, something they cannot afford now. Also, as mentioned above, the Wii has been discontinued in JP and EU, I believe it'll be discontinued in the US sometime this year. Nintendo systems do not have the tail that Sony systems do. I think the PS2 stopped selling at $99 (PS1 at $49). I might be wrong on that though, haven't checked.
I do think the wii is in its final stages now, if people are going to be buying one you can find them used in any gaming or general 2nd hand store for around 40euros. There really wont be that many new Wiis sold considering for a small bit more you can get a Wii-U with its full backwards compatibility, heck the only reason you would want a wii over a wii-u is its ability to play GC games and that was removed on the later models so you'd definitely be getting a pre-owned system rather than a new sale.
Gotta say tho, nice thread and thought put into the OP "Newguy" could use a few more Newguys around here making cool threads like this.
Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive
WiiU is backwards compatible with the Wii I dont see why someone would buy a Wii if they could buy a WiiU and play all the Wii games anyway.
I never owned a Wii but I got a WiiU and Im thinking about ordering the Last Story when I have finished (read goten a platinum trophy or complete 100% of the game) Dark Souls, Lightnign Returns, Castlevania 2, Infamous Second Son and DK Tropical Freeze (in other words not for a long time hehe)
