I thought the Wii was discontinued in Japan and EU?

I did not know that. Thanks for this.

Based on this information, it's fair to say that only the US will receive stock in Q4 and that may soon be discontinued there after that. Whatever stock we see shipped to JP and EU in Q4 when Nintendo reports are just left overs that were already in transit.

Based on that, the assumption of 400K shipped for Q4, 60% YOY drop for the next 3 years, and 3 FYs left for the Wii are overly optmistic and, ultimately, unrealistic.

Will there be another price cut to 79.99? Wasn't the PS2 at this price point before they finally stopped selling it?
Even if they could, I do not think that they would. Wii U needs all the sales it can get. Wii could be hurting it just a bit. Although not much, as we have seen from Weekly Wii sales. Might not even be a factor. One more Holiday would be nice, and then a full on discontinue announcement at E-3 2015.

Wii has hit the $99/EU99 price point already.  $79 wouldn't move that many more units, to be honest and would just cost Nintendo money, something they cannot afford now. Also, as mentioned above, the Wii has been discontinued in JP and EU, I believe it'll be discontinued in the US sometime this year. Nintendo systems do not have the tail that Sony systems do. I think the PS2 stopped selling at $99 (PS1 at $49). I might be wrong on that though, haven't checked.
