Wii U is still a bit too pricey to really bring in the Just Dance/Skylanders crowd.

Yet, it's only $50 more than the Wii was for a long period of time.
More likely the Just Dance crowd doesn't need a new console period.

Yeah Monster Hunter is OK, but it probably got a nice boost from being in the Japanese launch window. |
The cross-play-feature with the 3DS-version could have helped also a bit. Perhaps more games should offer that.

When Wii was that price, it has the trump card of a revolutionary interface as a hook; Wii U has no such luxury.

... which basically makes it a GameCube, only it doesn't technically match up with the modern consoles of its era.

You mean Wii U is the Gamecube?
Thankfully, they don't seem to be butchering their key franchises as badly as they did on GC, but there's still time for that...

300k isn't bad on the Wii U for a 3rd party.

And what is the Just Dance crowd going to do when Ubisoft stops making it for the Wii? They need a new console if they want to keep playing the games. A lot of them will switch to Kinect interface with the Xbone, but a lot of them will stay with the familiarity of the Wiimote, on the cheaper Wii U. You can't expect that many of them to think it's just a novelty and never want another Just Dance game, can you? Sales would have declined much sooner if people didn't want more Just Dance. They want it, they just aren't ready to pay that much for it if they don't have to. So far, Wii U is leading next gen Just Dance sales by a comfortable margin. It's never going to be a top ten seller for Wii U, but it'll probably get at least one million+ title by the end of the gen.
Wow those are very bad numbers when you see them together :( I know people buy the console to play Nintendo games but there are some good efforts that deserve better sales and is shame... I will do the only thing I can to help, support the pact:

10% attach rate for MH isn't that bad. To get a 10% attac rate on PS3/360 you'd need 8m sales. |
10% is excellent if you have sold 80 millions consoles and your console is on the market for 5 years or more, because some people are not using the console anymore (could even be broken), lots of casuals bought it but dont play so much, and there are lots of game around, including second hand. I think COD sold about 2 millions on PS4, which is more than 30% attach rate. At this stage 500K is very low as a multiplatform-king anyway (and I don't really blame Nintendo for that).
